PETER JACKSON NELSON, OF MOUNT-VILLE, GEORGIA.
CU LTIVATO R.
SPEGZLFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 690,758, dated January 7, 1902.
Application filed September 11, 1901. Serial No. 75,069. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern: ,7
Be it known that LPETER JAcKsoN NELsoN,
' a citizen of the United States, residing at Mountville, in the county of Troup and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful'Improvements in Cultivators; and I do erence being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. 1
' ends cultivator-blades O.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in cultivators and attachments therefor; and it consists in the provision of barrow-arms which are held in fixed positions by means of a cross-bar supporting braces which are fastened to the handles, the forward ends of the cultivator-beams being connected to the singletree.
My invention will be hereinafter more fully described and then specifically definedin the appended claim, and is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the views, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a front elevation.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A A designate the handles, the lower ends of which are bolted or .otherwisesecured to the forward ends of the beams B, which carry at their rear In the drawings there are six of these cultivator-blades arranged three in a series, one on each side of the device. To the forward ends of said beams B,'which are bolted or fastened together by any suitable means, are fastened eyes E, which are pivotally connected to the eyes F, that are'fastened to the singletree H. The bar K is bolted or otherwise fastened to each. of the beams B, and rising from said bar K are the braces B, which are fastened to the handle A.
Fastened to the inner faces of each inner beam Bare the fender-carrying bars N, which are fastened to the beams B in any suitable manner, as by means of bolts B, and are disposed at an inclination, as illustrated. Fastened to the lower rear ends of each of said bars N are the fenders M, which are disposed at an angle to each other and between the innermost of the cultivator-teeth 0.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is- 1 In combination with the beams B, B, each being bent upon itself and forming an eye E, barrow-teeth at the ends of said beams, a singletree having eyes F, which are connected to said eyes E, the cross-bars K holding the rear ends of said bars spaced apart, the fender-bars N disposed at inclinations, and the "fenders M secured thereto, and suitable handles, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
- PETER JACKSON NELSON. Witnesses:
