TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, CHARLES MAHAN, of Grand Island, in the county of Colusi, and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hoes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and complete dcseriptionvof the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawing, making partici" this specification, in which the drawing-gives a perspective View of the hoe, which consistsot` a steel blade bent` in ana'ngular form, as shown inthe drawing, the angle of which may varyas desired. It is secured to the handle in the ordinary manner, from which it tapers or grows wider until it reaches thc point b, where it turns and forms the angle, tapering down until itis much narrower at the end of the blade than in themiddle, where it is bent, or the sides may be parallel, as indicated by the dotted lines d. AThe centre of the blade is thick,'and slopes gradually down to a sharpcuttin'g edge. The ond also has a sharp edge# this is for the purpose of cutting up roots, Weeds, Snc., when hoe-ing. The swell through the centre gives the bladeadditiona-l' strength.

What claim es my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A hoe, constructed as 'herein described, as a new article of manufacture.
