The present invention relates to a novel manner of securing the rail of buggy and other carriage-seatsmore particularly to and around the back and ends of such seats, whereby, while it can be set on and removed from the seat with ease and readiness, when on it is perfectly firm, secure, and rigid. In the accompanying plate of drawings my improved shifting-rail is illli'strated 1 Figure 1 being a longitudinal vertical section of a bugg -scat with it applied thereto, and
Figure 2 a transverse vertical section taken in the plane of the line 1: x, fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A, in the drawings, represents a buggy-seat, of 'which 13 is its bottom board, 0 its end pieces, and D its back board. To the hack piece or board D, between its two ends, are applied two metallic straps, F, that, extending over the upper edge G thereto, have recesses H underneath them to receive hook-shaped pieces I suitably fixed to the hack hoard Joi' the buggy-rail for catching in the said recess under the said straps F. L, metallic straps applied to the end pieces 0, one to each of the same, in which end straps are notches M, suitable for GOV receiving the spring-lever catches N, fixed to the bu v-rail .K at proper points therefor, and for such springs to engage, therewith.
1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of a carriage-seat and rail when constructed and provided with hooks and catches, substantially as and for the purpose described.
