Description
No. 68l,264. Patented Aug. 27, l90l.
H. C. ROBINSON.
SINGLETBEE HOOK AND TRACE SECURING DEVICE.
(Application filed Jan. 4, 1901.)
To all whom/it may concern.-
UNITED STATES I? TATENT FFiCE.
HENRY O. ROBINSON, OF JACKSBORO, TEXAS.
SINGLE 'I'REE HOOK AND TRACE-SECURING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 681,264, dated August 27, 190i. Ap'plication filed ifanu'ary 4, 1901. Serial No. 42,089. (No model.)
Be it known that I, HENRY (3. RoBINsoN, a
j citizen of the United States, residing at J acks-.
boro, in the county of Jacks and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Singletree-Hooks and Trace- Securing Devices, of which the following is a specification.
I to provide a simple and easily-manipulated 1 device of this character which may be readily My invention relates to singletree-hooks and trace-securing devices, the object being attached to the ends of a singletree and will I serve to hold the end of a trace in secure engagement with the end of the singletree.
The construction of the improvement will be fully described hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specificatiomand its novel features will be defined in the appended claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of one end of a singletree provided with my improvement, and Fig. 2 is a hori- 1 j zontal section of the same.
The reference-numeral 1 designates a singletree, the end of which is encircled bya band 2, provided with an'oifset 3, which constitute's a keeper for a spring-clip consisting of a strip of spring metal having one of its ends 4 secured to the rear side of the single- .tree and bent upon itself to form a loop 5, the
free end of the strip extending into the oflset 3, as clearly shown in the drawings.
The trace-hookfi is formed with an integral screw 7 at its inner end adapted to be screwed into the end of the singletree. The hook is formed with a longitudinal slot 8 to form parallel arms 9 and 10, each of which is formed on its rear side with a recess 11, said recesses serving as seats to receive a cross-bar 12, attached to the rear end of a trace 13.
The loop 5 of the clip normally projects betrace-hook comprising parallel arms formed with vertically-alined recesses, and a clip secured to the singletree and extending opposite the recesses in the arms in position to confine the end fastening of a trace within said recesses.
2. The combination with a singletree; of a band encircling the end thereof and formed with an ofiset; a strip of resilient metal supported within said offset and bent upon itself to form a clip; and a trace-hook secured to the end of the singletree and longitudinally slotted to form parallel arms, said arms being provided with vertically-alined recesses.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY O. ROBINSON.
