Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SOLOMON RICI'IMAN, OF NEW YORK2 N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO NATIONAL ENAMELING AND STAMPING CO., OF SAME PLACE.
WASHTUB WITH WRINGER ATTACHMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No, 680,279, dated. August 13, 1901. Application inea nach 20,1901. saranno. 51.995'. (Nomad.)
T0 all whom' it may concern:
Be it known that l, SOLOMON RIOHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at No. 1335 Madison avenue, in the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washtubs with Wringer Attachments, of which the following is a speciiication.
My invention relates to washtubs with wringer attachments, and has for its object to produce a metallic washtub with an attachment whereby a wripger may be firmly clamped or otherwise secured thereto.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown a washtub in which my invention is embodied.
In the drawings, Figure l is a side elevation of the tub and wringer. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation showing the manner of engaging the tub and wringer by means of the attachment, and Fig. 3 is a broken-away sec# tional plan view of the part of the tub which embodies the wringer attachment.
In the drawings, ct represents a metallic Washtub. This metallic washtub is preferably made of galvanized iron, orit maybe constructed of other metal. The top edge h of the tub is provided with a rim-Wire c, and the tub is provided, preferably, immediately below the turned-over edge with an elongated curved metallic strap d. This metallic strap is secured firmly to the tub by means of rivets e, and the curve of the strap conforms substantially to the curvature Vof the tub, exceptv where it is provided with two bulges, elevations, or projectionsf, formed in the body of the strap, at which portions the strap is main-V tained out of contact with the tub. In the present instance I have shown the strap as bent to form these bulges or elevations. These bulges or elevations are of suicient extent to coperate with a clamp g of the Wringer h, and the clamps firmly engage the said elevations, which elevations being of a springy nature will cooperate with the clamps in holding the wringer firmly in position on the tub. It will likewise be observed that the strap acts as a strengthening member and being applied to the curved surface aids in stiffening the said curved surface against strains tending to straighten it, and in this sense is to be clearly distinguished from a strap applied to a iiat or substantially iiat surface.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure b v Letters Patent, 1s;-
In a washtub, the combination of a tub with a Wringer attachment comprising a strap secured to the upper portion of the tub and provided with outwardly-extending projections, each .projection having two short end members and a at central member of greater extent spaced from the tub and adapted to form a spring-bearing for a clamp of awringer.
