My invention relates to an iinpiovementn smoke-houses designed for the purpose ofv smoking meats, end-more particularly to im` provcments'in such structures used in the basements of houses or other buildings. As is Well known, in many large cities these smoke-houses are bui t in basements or cellars of tenement-houses, and in such instances great objections have been urged against the same by reason of the escape of the smoke into the house or building when the door of the smoke-house is opened to allow a person to enter .or issue therefrom. The object of my invention is to overcome this objection and to ineke certain additions to the smoke-house to prevent the egress of smoke into the cellar or basement; and with these and other ends in view it consists in certain novel features o' construction and combinations of parts, as will be hereinafter fuily described, and pointed out in the claims.

1. The combination with a smoke -house and chimney or .stack leading,` therefrom, of a vestibule l1 located in front of said smokehouse and into which leads a door from Said latter, a lue 1G located above said smokehouse and communicating at; one end with Said chimney or stack and ab its opposie end with he upper portion of said vestibule ll, a door 13 leading into said vestibule and an opening 14 in the lower portion of said vesti bule whereby a draft is created through said vestibule and over the top of'said smokehouse for the purpose of carryingo through said stack or chimney, any smoke escaping from said smoke-house into said vestibule, Substantially as described.
