INVENTOR:
WITNESSES: g. zm dz'ma' the sheet-clamps E E E CHARLES HENRY SNIVELY, OF SUNBURY, PENNSYLVANIA.
DISPLAY-RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 674,069, dated May 14, 1901. I
Application filed July 25, 1900.
T0 aZZ whont it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES HENRY SNIVE- LY, of Sunbury, in the county of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks, whereof the following is a specification, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to devices particularly adapted for the display of such merchandise as carpets, oil'cloths, and similar fabrics.
My invention comprises a clamp or series of clamps each arranged to secure a group of sample sheets of fabric, a panel upon which the clamped sheets may be selectively displayed, a pair of opposed standards at one extremity of said panel respectively provided with slots, and means to removably secure said clamp or clamps in said slots.
I have shown a convenient embodiment of my invention in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a rear view of the display-rack. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of said rack, taken on the line 2 2 in Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the top of one of the standards.
In said figures, A is the base of the rack, preferably provided with feet a. The 0pposed standardsB are connected by the base A at their lower extremities and by the crossbar 0 intermediate of their length, and the inclined panel D is supported by the said base and cross-bar, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper extremities b of said standards B are bifurcated by respective slots 1), which are opposed in alinement and adapted to receive Said clamps are in removable relation with the standards B, but are conveniently retained therein by means of the swinging bails E, which, as indicated in Fig. 3, are each pivoted in one fork of.the respective standard and arranged to embrace the other fork thereof. Each of said clamps E E E comprises a pair of opposed bars (respectively marked 6 e 6 and is provided at its opposed extremities with bolts G and nuts 9, by which the respective pairs of opposed bars are caused to clamp a sheet or series of sheets of fabric H H H which Serial No. 24,750. (No model.)
are interposed between the respective bars, as shown in Fig. 2.
By the arrangement above described any desired number of sample sheets of fabric may be arranged for display upon asingle rack, selected groups of the sheets being secured in clamps, such as E E E, which may be placed as desired in the slots 1) of the standards B. When so placed, any particular sheet of fabric 1 may be displayed upon the panel D by turning the superimposed sheets over the top of the rack, as indicated in Fig. 2. Although the embodiment of my invention which I have chosen for illustration contains but three of the clamps, (respec tively designated E E E it is to be understood that the slots Z) in the opposed standards B may be so proportioned as to contain any desired number of such clamps, and although I have shown five sheets of the fabric in each of said clamps it is to be un derstood that each clamp may contain any desired number of sample sheets.
I do not desire to limit myself to the precise details of construction which I have shown, as it is obvious that various modifications may be made therein without departing from the essential features of my invention.
I claim- 1. In a display-rack, the combination with a clamp arranged to secure a sample sheet of fabric, of a panel upon which the clamped sheet may be displayed, a pair of opposed standards at one extremity of said panel respectively provided with slots, and means to removably secure said clamp in said slots, substantially as set forth.
2. In a display-rack, the combination with a clamp arranged to secure a sample sheet of fabric, of an inclined panel upon which the clamped sheet may be displayed, a pair of opposed standards at one extremity of said panel respectively provided with slots, and means to removably secure said clamp in said standards, substantially as set forth.
3. In a display-rack, the combination with a clamp arranged to securea sample sheet of fabric, of a pair of opposed standards respectively provided with slots, and swinging bails upon the respective standards arranged to removably secure said clamp in said slots, tion upon said base and said cross-bar, and a substantially as set forth. sheet-clamping device mounted in said slots IO 4. In adisplay-rack, the combination With in removable relation with said standards,
a base, of a pair of opposed standards in substantially as set forth. fixed relation with said base, and respec- CHARLES HENRY SNIVELY.
