Be it known' tht I, WARREN B.rDoUDEs, of Canton, in the 'county of Sturk,a.`nd in the Stote 'of Ohio,
have invented certain'rnew and useful Self-Lighting Cigarsf' and do'hereby declare that the following is a 'full,cleor, andexact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to theletters of reference marked thereon. Y
In the annexed drawings, makingpart of this specification, A represents a cigar, .which may be constructed in any of 'the known and usual ways or-forms: -B represents the-composition end ofen ordinary parlor mnteh..
which is about three-eighths of an inch in length. One end of this match is'sharpene, so that it con be forcetl into the outer end of the cigar, leaving the composition on said match alittle outside. of the tobacco of .the cigar. Before inserting the match, I dip the outer end of the cigar into a composition of guupowdernd iiour, vihich are mixed to about the consistency of paste, in anyproportion, so that the composition will burn readily when dried` I l In using this invention, the smoker ignites the match' by friction,and allows the phosphoric substance to 'burn away before he places the. cigniin his mouth'. After the composition has thus 'burned airny, a. lcrust is formed on the end bf cigarfwhich immediately ignites the tobacco. v
