DRUGGISTS LABEL CASE OR CABINET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 667,182, dated February 5, 1901.

To all whom, it may concern:

Beit known that LWILLIAM WEAVER BILL- INGSLEA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Macon, in the county of Bibb and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Druggists Label Cases or Cabinets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention has relation to cases or cabinets adapted for holding labels,envelops, dto. and it particularly is adapted for druggists use for conveniently holding dierent sizes of labels or envelops and adapting the latter to be readily removed one at a time for use.

Among the objects in view is to provide a case of the character described which shall be of extremely simple and inexpensive construction, dust-proof, adapted to have the labels or envelops readily inserted in the respective compartments, and wherein the labels or envelops will be automatically fed forward into position to be readily abstracted from the case.

The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, as hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a label-case embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section thereof, showing the labels in place. Fig. 3 is a plan view with the detachable section or back and top removed. Fig. t is a detached perspective view of the rcmovableback and top.

In the construction of my label-case I may use any desired material or materials, as wood or metal, though I preferably use wood. The case may also be made of any desired dimensions and adapted for holding labels or envelops of different sizes, and there may be any desired number of compartments within the case. These are matters to which I do not desire to be restricted.

l indicates my label-case, constructed, preferably, of wood, said case havingthe opposite sides 2 2 and the sections 3,secured at the ends to thesides 2 and constituting the front of the case. Each of the sections 3 is provided at its lower edge with suitably-shaped slots or apertures I for a purpose presently apparent. 5 indicates a series of sections arranged in the inclined position shown and secured at the ends to the sides 2 of the case. These sections 5 are so arranged that their lower front. edges will lie beneath the lower edges '7 of the sections 3,leaving narrow slits or openings 8, extending lengthwise of the case, and through which slits the labels or envelops are adapted to be withdrawn one byone as needed.

Arranged transversely within the case in rear of the sections 3 are partitions 9, which divide the interior of the case into a number 0f independent compartments lO. These compartments are adapted to hold the labels or envelops, and it will be readily seen that by arranging the partitions at varying distances apart various sizes of compartments Will be formed to receive labels, dac. of varying sizes.

The labels or envelops are adapted to be placed vertically in the compartments and to be forced constantly toward the front, whereby they will lie in a position immediately in rear of the apertures, thereby being always in position to be readily abstracted or removed through the slits 8.

Any suitable means may be used for automatically feeding the labels or envelops toward the front of the case. I preferably employ a series of-balls 11 of some weighty material, as metal, porcelain, glass, or the like. These balls,of which I may employ any desired number for each compartment, (preferably but one,) are placed in rear of the bunch of labels or envelops, and by reason of the inclined sections 5, forming the bottoms of the compartments, the balls willgravitate downwardly to constantly force the labels, dac., toward the front of the case, thus automatically feeding them forward each time a label, tc., is abstracted.

The use of balls for effecting the described purpose is advantageous for the reason that they can be readily removed when it is desired to place other labels or envelops in a compartment and as readily replaced in rear of the labels after the latter have been inserted.

It will be readily seen that a label or envelop can be readily removed from any desired compartment by simply inserting a finger through the aperture 4 and drawing the label which is in front downwardly, thus causing said label to slip through the slit 8. The

What l claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A label-case comprising in combination, sides, front sections-'3, inclined sections 5, the lower front edges of which cooperate with the lower edges of the sections 3 to form narrow slits 8, the-said front sections-each having an aperture, as described, transverse partitions arranged to form compartments to receive labels or the like, and a combined back and top section detach-ably secured to the sides.
