TAP FOR SlPHON-BOTTLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 666,215, dated January 15, 1901.
Application filed March 7,1900. Serial No. 7,752. Lllo model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that we, HERMANUS VAN NIM- WEGEN, brewery manager, and J OHAN J AOOB BRUNS, manufacturer, subjects of the Queen of the Netherlands, and residents of Vossenstraat 72, Arnhem, in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Taps for Siphon-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to an improvement in taps for siphon-bottles; and it consists of a method by which the plug can be fixed in its closed position.
Figure l of the annexed drawings represent-s a siphon-bottle provided with this improvement in partial section, while Fig. 2 is a view from the left of Fig. 1.
The fitting consists of a metal mantle d, in which the tap b, with the rising-pipe 6, revolves. Inside the tap b is the plug a, which produces and interrupts the connection between the rising-pipe and the outflow-pipe f. In order to fix the plug a in the closed positi 011 shown in the drawings, it is provided with a projection g with a hole through it. In the upper part of the tap is a pin i, which is forced back by the spring in. The screw on at the top of the tap holds the pin i. This screw can only be turned by means of the removable key n. When the plug a is to be fixed in the closed position, so that it is impossible to turn it,the pin 2' is forced by pressing its head 0 into the position shown in Fig. 1, and the screw m is screwed down so tightly by means of the key it that it fixes the pin 2'. The key 'n is then removed, and nobody can cause liquid to escape from the siphon. When the screw m is unscrewed again by means of the key n, the spring it forces the pin out of the hole in the projection g, and the plug can be turned.
Having thus described our invention, the following is what we claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a siphon-tap the combination with the plug, a projection extending from said plug provided with an aperture, of a movable pin secured in the tap, adapted to engage the aperture in said projection on the plug, and means for holding the said pin in a predetermined position with reference to said aperture.
2. In a siphon-tap the combination with the plug, and a vertical projection having an aperture through it, of a horizontally-movable pin in the tap adapted to engage the aperture in said projection, a coiled spring secured around one end of the said pin, and a binding-screw secured in the tap adapted to lock the said pin in a predetermined position.
In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands in presence of two witnesses.
HERMANUS VAN NIMWEGEN. JOHAN JACOB BRUNS.
