Be it known that I, ELIHU D. MCGLAMERY, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of lVaynesborough, county of Wayne, State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extension-Tables, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in tables, and more especially to extension-tables, and has for its object to provide a table which will be simple and inexpensive in construction, easy to manipulate,and which when extended will greatly increase the length of the same and when folded will be very compact.

My invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the several parts comprising the table, as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the leaves on one side folded and on the 'opposite side unfolded. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of same. Fig. 3 is a vertical section on line no so of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a detail section of one of the hinges for conmeeting the. series of leaves to the table-top.

In the drawings, in which like numerals of reference denote like parts throughout the several views, 1 represents the table; 2, the top thereof; 3, 4, 5, and 6, the legs secured to the under surface of the same, one at each corner; 7, the frame of the table, comprising two end pieces 8, also connected to the under surface of the table-top and which are adapted to connect the legs 34 and 5 6, and braces 9, which are adapted to connect the legs 3 5 and 4 6. 11 and 12 are two slidable frames or sections each provided with side pieces 13, having beveled ends 14 and legs 15 16, the upper ends of which are beveled, as at 17, and an end piece 18, connecting said legs and forming a brace for the same.

19 2O 21 and 22 23 24: are two sets or series of leaves connected together by hinges 25 and the inner leaf of each series attached to the table-top by hinges 26 and the outer leaf of each series attached to the end pieces of the slidable frames by hinges 27. The leaves 20 21 and 23 24 rest and are supported on the top of the side pieces 13 of the slidable frames when the table is extended and are folded upon each other and are supported on the table-top when the table is in a folded position.

The side pieces of the slidable frames slide on the upper surfaces of the braces 9 and within the frame 7, and side pieces of one of said slidable frames slide between the side pieces of the other slidable frame.

The purpose of beveling the ends of the side pieces 13 and the top of the legs 15 and 16 is to provide space to permit the outer leaves 19 and 22 to be dropped downward when the table is in a folded position.

When the leaves of the table are in a folded position and it is desired to increase or extend the length of the table, move the slidable frames outward, which movement will automatically unfold the leaves and draw them down on top of the side pieces of the said frames and on a level with the table-top. When it is desired to fold the leaves up again, it is only necessary to push them upward slightly and move the slidable frames inward, which will fold two of the leaves of each series up on the table-top and cause the other or outer leaf to drop down and cover the end pieces of the sliding sections.

I may change the same somewhat without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. A table provided with a slidable section, a series of leaves hinged together at their meeting edges, the inner leaf of the series hinged to the table and the outer leaf hinged to the slidable'section, substantially as described.

2. A table provided with slidable sections, a series of leaves hinged together at their meeting edges, the inner leaf of each series hinged to said table, and the outer leaf hinged to one of the slidable sections, substantially as described.

5. A table provided with a top, slidable sections provided with side pieces with beveled ends, and legs beveled at their upper ends, a series of leaves, the inner leaf of each series hinged to said table and the outer leaf thereof to one of the slidable sections, substantially as described.
