SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 664,862, dated January 1, 1901,.
Application led January 16, 1900. Serial No. 1,681. (No model.)
To (im whom, t may concern:
'Be it known that I, FRANK HENRY HIGGINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ithaca, in the county of Tompkins and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Slab-Support for Plumbers Use, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved support for a slab and aprons of a stationary washstand. Supports of this character heretofore constructed have been connected to the slab and aprons in such a manner as to render them easily broken; and the object of my invention, therefore, is to provide a support which will remedy this defect.
XVith this object in view the invention consists in the peculiar construction of the several parts and in the novel combination and arrangement, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings forming a part of this speciication, Figure l is a detail perspective view showing the practical application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of Fig. 2. Fig. 4C is a top plan view of the support, showing portions of the aprons held thereon. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the plates for securing the ends of the aprons G to the wall.
In carrying out my invention I employT a leg or support A, having a plate B integral with its upper end, said plate being essentiallytriangularor quadrant shape and adapted to rest directly beneath one corner of the slab, the said plate being attached to the said slab by means of bolts C, which bolts are set into the bottom face of the slab and projected through holes D, formed in the plate B, and thumb-nuts E, screwed upon the lower ends of the said bolts, thereby securely con necting the slab to the upper end of the leg.
The leg is formed with an inwardly-project-- ing shoulder F adjacent toits upper end and upon which the ends of the aprons G are adapted to rest, the said aprons being held in position upon the said shoulder'and into an angle of the leg by means of the angle-plate H, which tits upon the inner side of the said aprons and is bound against the same by means oIn a bolt I, which passes through the said angle-plate and carries a winged nut K upon its end for the purpose of fastening the leg, aprons, and an gie-plate securely together.
The rear ends of the aprons are each provided with a plate M, which is secured thereto by means ot the screws or bolts L. The rear edge of the plate is provided with loops or eyes O, which t over pins or hooks P, projecting from the edge of an angle-plate Q, which is rigidly secured to the wall by means of screws or bolts R, projecting through said plate. The upper end of the plate M is bent atan angle to the main4 portion to form a flange N, which supports the top slab, and is secured thereto by means of bolts S, which are seated in holes in its under surface and project through holes T on the anged portion of the plate. The lower end of the plate Q is provided with a flange U, which strengthens the angle-iron and also forms a seat or rest for the support of the apron G.
Inassembling the parts of my improved stand the plates Q are screwed fast to the Wall at the required points that the stand is to occu py. The plates M are secured to the ends ot the aprons and connected with the wall-plates by means of the hooks and loops thereon. The outer ends of the aprons are clamped between the top of the leg and the angle-iron H, which will form the support for the slab. The slab is then placed on the support and rigidly secu red thereto by means of the bolts C and S.
A stand constructed in accordance with my invention has very few deep holes therein, and the device is consequently not weakened to any extent, and, furthermore, the parts being connected as described can be quickly and easily taken down or set up, as desired.

In a device of the kind described, the combination,'with an angled plate provided with a flange at the bottom, of hooks projecting from one edge of said plate, a plate provided with eyes to lit over said hooks and havinga ange at its upper end, a slab on said upper flange, an apron secured to said plate in position to rest on the iiange of the angled plate, and means for supporting the outer portions of the slab and the apron, substantially as described.
