TACK FULLER.
(Application filed may 7, 1900.) I
(NojlodqL) LARS PETER OLSEN, OF council. BLUFFS, IOWA.
TAGK-PULLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 664,494, dated December 25, 1900.
Application filed May 7,1900. Serial Ho.15,789. (No model.)
the use of tools not adapted for engaging and lifting them out without bending them, as contemplated by my tack-puller, that operates equally well on single-headed tacks and double-pointed tacks.
My invention consists in the device hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lis a perspective view showing my invention applied and in position as required for pulling out a tack of common form and a single head. Fig. 2 shows it applied and in position as required for pulling out a doublepointed tack that has no head.
The, letter A designates a round metal handle about six inches long and half an inch in diameter.
B is an integral claw that extends downward at its heel and under side and has a curved bottom that extends atan angle relative to the handle, and the top face of the jaw is a regular curve that extends from the top face of the handle and tapers to the bifurcated free end of the claw in such a manner that the mating thin front end portions will readily slip under the head of the tack, and then bearing down the other end of the handle the curved bottom of the claw will roll" on the surface of the carpet or floor toward the heel and the free front end or toe portion will rise and lift the tack. At the other end of the handle is an integral extension 0, that projects in an opposite direction from the claw B and at an angle to the handle. It has a fiat bottom, is pointed, and has a rounded top surface and adapted to slip under the exposed top portion of a double-pointed tack, as shown in Fig. 2, so that when the handle is depressed the complete device operates like a lever 0f the first order forlifting out of the floor the mating pointed parts of the tack.
Having described my invention, its purpose, and operation, the practical utility thereof will be readily understood by persons familiar with the art to which it pertains, and
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent therefor, is-
As a new article of manufac ture, a tackpuller consisting of a straight handle having an inclined, curved and tapering extension at one end and the end portion of said extension bifurcated and at the other end of the handle an extension projected in an opposite direction and corresponding angle, flat on its bottom, rounded on its top and tapering to a point to operate in the manner set forth,'for the purposes stated.
