Etc Sclgrlmlc refernt to in time filters .fiimnt mm uniting part of the sum.
TO ALL'WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I
Be it known that I, OLIVEB'GUINAFD, of Yicksburg, in the county of Warren, end Stateof Mississippi, have invented a. new and improved Cigar-Point Perforating,Machine and I do hereby declare that the following is it full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the some, reference b'eing had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to it machine for perforating the points of cigars, and consist-sol a block of wood or other suitable materiel seated on a spring in another hollow block having spikes hinged in its walls, and passing through slots or mortises in the simp e of right-angled triangles in the walls of the inner block. In the accentpenying drawings- V I Figure 1 is n vertical section of my cigar-point perforating machine, and
Figure 2 is a, horizontal sectionthereof at lines 2:.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts. I
A is n hollcrl block of wood or'other suitable material; a second hollow block, B, being set in the block A upon the spring a, which rests on the movable bottom 9. b is a wedding placed between tlie spring a' and block B. O C are spikes pivoted at c, in the slots or mortises F in the walls of the block A, and pessing through the right-angled triangular mortises D in the block B, and beneath the metal lining E of the hollow block B. The cigar being placed in the hollow of the block B the block is" forced down. upon the spring and the four spikes run through the slots into n horizontal position, piercing the point of the cigar. The pressure being withdrawn, the block returns cnrrying the spikes bnok to an angle of about forty-five degree; In fig. 1 the spring is seen relaxed and the spikes inclinedat such angle In fig. 2 the spring is compressed and the spikes in a horizontal position penetrating to the middle of the block 13., The bottom 3 may be provided with holes to enable it to be screwed to the counter or other suitable place.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The hollow block A, having the spikes C pivoted in slots or uiortises in its walls, as and for the purposes described.
2. The hollow block B, having right-angled triongled slots or mortises D to receive and for the passage of thespikes C, and seated on the spring a in the block A, substantially as and for the purposes described.
