STAMPING-PRESS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of "Letters Patent No. 661,794, datedNovember 13, 1900,
Application filed May 2, 1898. Serial No. 679,539. (N0 model.)
To all whom, it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, HUGO DUDECK, machine manufacturer, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Risedorf, near Berlin, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Draft-Presses; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. i
The present invention relates tov draftpresses and stamping-machines, its object being to provide a machine of this nature the working parts of which are uniformly adj ustable and wherein the stroke of the cams acting on the pressingrollers is not directly transmitted to the combined plunger-guide and movable work-holder.
It consists in the novel arrangement and combination of parts to be presently. described, and definitely set forth in the claims hereto appended.
In the accompanying drawings, Fignrel is a side elevation, partly in section, of a mechanism embodying my improvements; and Figs. 2 and 3 show, respectively, end and plan views thereof.
Referring to the drawings,in which like letters of reference denote like parts, a designates a combined plunger-guide and mov: ablework-holder, and da pressure-plate inserted in the top thereof. A ring I) is revolubly mounted in the plate (1 and provided with any common form of screw-thread meshing with corresponding thread in the guide a. The combined plunger-guide and movable work-holder can be adjusted in respect to its lowermost position by simply introducing a key of special form through the'adjustingholes 0 to turn the ring, whereby the guide can be raised or lowered, as desired. Clampscrews 6 e are provided to maintain the adjustment between ring I) and work-holder a in fixed relation to each other when satisfactorily adjusted. To prevent said guide from sustaining any blow or impact, the following mechanism has been devised: Link-rods h h are movably connected to the pressure-plate d and carry each a pressure-roller g, Fig. 1. The pressure-rollers g are actuated by cams f, which are rigidly mounted on the drive-shaft, the links 71. being guided in their reciprocations by levers t', carried by an oscillatory shaft is, journaled in the framework. A simithe link-rods h.
'to elevate the work-holder and release the articles being worked upon by means of a cam m. The cams f act only on the rollers g to turn the levers 2' and push downward the link-rods 71, while the cams m act to turn the levers Z and thereby through their rigid con nection with rock-shaft 7c and lovers 2' to raise The rock-shaft and levers 7; act to guide the upper end of the links h in an exact path approximately in line with the motion of the work-holder a. An uncertain or inexact movement of the combined plunger-guide and movable Work-holder is thus absolutelyexcluded. The latterbeingperiodically and properly raised and lowered by the rods 72. h is timed to press down upon and hold the plate or other work in the press in lubly mounted therein, a combined plungerable work-holder, a pressure-plate above the holder, a ring revolubly mounted in said plate and screw-threaded to said holder, pressurerollers movablyconnected with the pressureplateand cam mechanismfor actuating said parts, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HUGO DUDECK.
