P. BLEOKA.
GHURN.
No. 66,122. Patented June I25, 186;?.

Letters'Patelnt No. 66,122, dated June 2.5, 1867. V
GHURNS.
TO ALL WHOM Il` MAY GONCERN:
l, Hflongitudinelly, as shown nt e, fig. 2.
Be it linown that I, FRANK BLEOKA, of Elgin, in the county of Kane, and Stute of Illinois, have invented n. new und useful improvement in Churns;v und I do hereby declare thatthe following is a full, clear, and exnetl description ofthe construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, und 'tothe letters of reference marked thereon, innk'ing'a. part of this specication, in which- Figure l is a. vertical transverse' section through' Vthe machine, showing the plan .of gearing,
Figure 2 is a. vertical longitudinal section through the saine. y
Similar letters of reference, whore they occur in the seperate figures, denote like 4parts in auch of the drawings. i
My nventionrelates to nn improvement in that class of rotary ehurns wherein the crise or body of Vthe churn is made to revolve; and the nature of my improvement consists in so arranging n. series of horizontal bledes within the case es to give ouch :in independent opposite rotating motion as the case is revolved.
To enable others skilled in theart to construct and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the sume with reference to the drawings.
A represents the frame, and M the case or body ot the churn, the` sume being provided at each end with shafts H Hf", which rest in vertical grooves cut inthe upper part of the frame, (at opposite sides,) forming the bearings upon which said cose revolves. Withinsaid case are blades or agitator-s, C C, passing horizontally the entire length ot' the case, and are provided at each end with shafts or bearings which pass4 through boxes in the end of the case. Attached to one end of the shafts of the agitators C C! are pinions, L L, which gear with and take in'to a. gear-wheel, T, which is loose upon shaftH, and firmly bolted or otherwise attached to the insideof the frame. 4
The objects of this style ot'A arrangement are several first, the case'having a. rotating motion the heft of the same, Yvhenronce set in motion, acts as a. balancing pow-er, thus` uproper motion is 4atta-ined.; and second, the agitators having an independent und opposite rotatinglmotionto that of the euse subjects the cream equally to the required degree of I agitation. 4
It is found benecial to admit cool nir'nto the cream while churni g.. For this I forni u. cavity in shaft The operation is :is follows: The cream to be churned is placed in thecase cover m, being tightly closed; the case is then given a rotating motion by means of crank E, thus causing agitators C C to revolve with the case, pinions L L thereon gearing with wheel T of frame A, causing said agitators to rotate indopemlontly and in opposite direction to that of the ease, thus subjecting the cream to Vthe required degree o' `agitation 1.o-I
. produce the butter inthe shortest possible space of time.
y Having thus described the nature und object of my invention, I disclaim the mere rotation ot the ense l broadly considered; but what I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Agitators G C, pinions L L", and wheel T, when used in combination with u rotating colse, substnnnlly as and for the purpose set forth;
