Be it known that I, CHARLES LUTHER Boo- TON, of Chicago, in. the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and n sefiil Improvements in Magazine Plate- 1 Holders; andi do hereby declarethat the follow'ii'g is a full, clear, and exact description thereof reference 'being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of refer- :o ence maraed thereon, which form a part of this Specification. l "l This invention relates to improvements in magazines or plate-holders for photographic eameras.-

rlhe invention consists in the matters hereinalter described, and setfo'rth in the appended claims.

A indicates a hinged li ght-proof magazinecase or inclosure within which are located a series of plate-carriers B B, which are perma-` ncntly connected at. their lower edges with each other and with the front and rear walls of the nclosure by a flexible connecting-strip B", which forms a flexible or hinged connection betweensaid parts, as the leaves and covers of a book are joined by its bnding. 4o To said plate-carrieis may be either permanently or removably attached the sensitive plates b b, with which the magazine is loaded. The magazine-case has the form of an inclosure, of pasteboard or other suitable material, adapted to cover the plate carriers and plates at their front and rear faces and sido vand top margins, so as to exclude light therefrom, and consists of a rear wall C', provided with forwardly-extending flanges C2 C 5o C on its side and top margins, and a front wall C5, provided with similar rearwardlycase is closed.

In order to form a close joint between the ends 7o of the strip l'and the side flanges of the front and rear walls of the inclosure, strips of felt b are secured to the end of said strip in such manner as to project beyond the same, and the lower margins of the side flanges C6 75 and C8 of the front wall are provided with similar projecting felt strips e c. When the case is closed, the strips b' on the hinged strip B' come in contact with the lower@ ges of the flanges (12C4 of the rear wall and also with the 8o similar strips c c on the flanges of thefront wall, there by making close joints at these points to irsure the exclusion of light from the plates. It is obvious that by this construction a case 0r inclosure is provided having 85 overlapping walls on three sides and a tlexi; ble bottom attached to the rear and front wall,

but in no wise attached to the said flanges, so that the case may be opened by throwing `the front wall away from the plate-carriers to 9o expose the latter, and the plate-carriers may be successively thrown forward away from those behind them 'to expose the several plates in the same manner that a book is opened and its leaves turned. The walls of the case or inclosure will preferably be lined with black paper to exclude light..

The plate-carriers B B may be made in any suitable way to receive` and hold the plates. As herein shown, they are made of paper Gr.10 the like and are jouicd to the flexible 0r hinged strip directly or by means of strips.'
