SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 658,550, dated September 25, 1900.

Be it known that I, DANIEL LITTLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Eagles Mere, in the county of Sullivan and State of Pennsylania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in flame-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hame-fasteners; and its primary object is to provide a strong and durable device of few parts and which is effective in operation.

A further object is to provide an adjustable device of this character adapted to unite the hames upon a collar of any size and having means whereby the hames may be readily drawn together and held securely and firmly in such position.

To these ends the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings showing the preferred form of my invention, and in which- Figure 1 is an elevation showing the fasteuer in use. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the device unfastened, and Fig. 3 is a view of the parts of the fastener detached.

Referring to said figures by numerals of reference, 1 1 are the hames of a harness, each provided at the end with a ring 2 2, respectively, one of which, 2, is engaged by a hook 3, formed at one end of an angular securing-bar 4, having a rectangular passage 5 formed therein adapted to receive the stem 6 of an enlarged eye portion 7. The stem is provided at suitable intervals with threaded openings 8 for the reception of a thumb-screw 9, adapted to limit the forward motion of the stem within the passage 5.

The ring 2 of the hame l is engaged by a hook 10, formed on the end of a preferablycurved securing-bar ll, slotted at its opposite end, as at 12, for the reception of a lever 13, which is pivoted upon a bolt, rivet, or other suitable device 14, passing through the This lever is provided upon its upper edge, near the pivot, with a toe or projection 15, as shown, and may be of any desired form.

2 and 2 and lever 13 is inserted down through the eye 7. As the lever is turned upward the eye 7 will slide thereon toward the pivot 14, drawing the hames closer together. When the movement of the lever reaches its limit, the eye will bear against the toe 15 at a point above the pivot, thereby preventing the lever from swinging down and unlocking the parts.

It will be understood that when it is desired to adjust the fastenings in order to semodifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and I therefore reserve the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In a hame-fastener the combination of an angular bar having a hook thereto; a stem slidably mounted in a passage in said bar; a screw limiting the movement of the bar; an enlarged eye portion to the stem a hooked securing-rod; a lever pivoted therein and adapted to engage said eye portion; and a toe to said lever.
