SODA-WATER APPARATUS.
` SPECIFICATION forming part of 'Letters Pat-ent No. 656,072, dated August 14, 1900. Application led Januaryl 4, 190:0. Serial No. 340. (No model.)
My invention is an improvement in soda'-Y Water apparatus, seeking especially to provide novel constructions by which to convenientlyv dispense the Syrups used in such apparatus; and the invention consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts, as
will be hereinafter described, and pointed out' in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my apparatus as in use. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, part in section. Fig. 3 is a crossasectional View on about line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a detail View illustrating the door for preventing the withdrawal of the syrup vessels. Fig. 5 is a detail view illustrating a modiiiedform of such door, Fig. 6 is a detail View of the turn-table plate for carrying the tumblers. Fig'. 7 is a cross-sectional View illustrating an apparatus in which` t-he doors immediately outside the syrup vessels are omitted, and Figx illustrates in detail the syrup vessels employed When'the outer doors are omitted. y
The centrallholder A is mounted upon a base B and is designed to contain ice or other cooling medium, and the sodaldispensing devices may lead through suchcentral holder, as shown, or be' otherwise `disposed in any suitable manner.A Upon' its o'ute'r side the holder A is provided with a shelf-like support C, upon which rests Vthe turn-table plate D, which revolves upon'the plate C and forms a revolving carrier for the vessels E, which are the syrup-jars, as shown, and which may be made of any suitable material. Where desired, balls may be interposed between the plates C and D to reducefricltion. At their lower ends the vessels E'are provided with depending discharge-nozzles @,having faucets provided with outwardly-projecting handles e', which may be operated when the part-icular vresselfE is brought to the proper position, as will be presently described. Upon the holder A, Iwsupport the top F, which is provided with a depending flange f, which overlaps the upper end of the vessels E, as shown.
A casing is supported upon the base B placement of the vessels.
It may be preferred to provide a Separate compartment for each of the syrup-jars and `to provide a separate door H for each of such compartments, as shown in Figs. l, 2, and 3.
In this construction the upper and lower ends of thedoors iit within the overlapping portionsf and g of the Cover F and casing G and are thus held'from opening when not desired,
' Athe doors being hinged at h and openin gY freely upon such hinges when not obstructed by the portionsfand g' before described.
At one side the casing G is provided with an opening g', which may be closed by a door g2, and Whose upper end is extended at g3 to the top of the casing and coincides with au opening f in the langef. When ajar is brought into register with the openings f and g3, it may be withdrawn for the purpose of refilling it or for any other purpose desired. To prevent the Withd rawal of the jar except when desired, I provide a' narrow door g4 for the opening g3.- This door g4 may be hinged on av vertical piutle, as shown Vin Fig. 4, or may be in the form of a hook-latch pivoted horizontally, as shown in Fig. 5.
In the operation of the described construction the turn-table plate D may be revolved to bring any desired syrup-jar to the position shown in Fig. l, where its contents may be drawn, by opening the faucet, into the glass below. It will be noticed that the casing G is provided at G2 with an outwardly-bulged annular portiou'forming a passage-Way for the outwardly-projected handles e of the faucets of the nozzles of the syrup-jars.
Where desired, the separate compartments and doors H may be omitted and the syrup- .jars be arranged, as shown in Fig. '7, side by side and with their outer faces exposed. In this case it may be desired to bevel the edges of the syrup-jars at H2, as shown inA Figs. 7 and 8.
v The glasses are arranged upOlla turn-table plate I, which is provided with seats at I' for such glasses, as best shown in Fig. 6. This turn-table plate I is arranged Within the casing G and upon the base B and may be ICO mounted upon balls, as shown in Fig. As will be understood from Figs. l and 2, the plate I maybe filled with glasses and readily turned to bring any desired glass into register with the opening G', as shown in Fig. l.
The syrup-jars rest directly against the central holder and will be cooled thereby in operation. the jars as described they can be conveniently brought into position for use and used without the necessity of handling the jars and that the construction as shown and described will greatly facilitate the dispensing of the drinks and will occupy but a small counter-space.
The door gfa may be hinged, as shown in Fig. 1, orsuch part maybe arranged to slide, as shown at 912 in Fig. 7.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The apparatusherein described comprising the base, the central holder having the shelf-like support on its outer side, the turntable plate encircling the central holder and restingupon the shelf-like support and adapted to receive the syrup vessels, the syrup vessels having depending outletstubes at their lower ends, a retaining device for the upper ends of the syrup vessels, and a casing overlapping the lower ends of the syrup vessels and having an opening through which access may be had to the syrup vessels, substantially as set forth.
2. In an apparatus substantially as described, the combination of the base, the central holder having the shelf-like support on its outer side, the syrup vessels resting on said shelf-like support, the top carried by the Central holder and extending over and having portions depending outside the upper ends of the syrup vessels, and the casing resting upon the base and overlapping the lower ends of the syrup vessels substantially as set forth.
3. In an apparatus substantially as described, the combination of the syrup vessels, a rotating support therefor, said vessels having depending outlet-tubes provided with faucets having outwardly-projecting handles and the casing overlapping the lower ends of the vessels and having a channel or passage-way for the handles of the faucets, substantially as set forth.
4. Anapparatussubstantiallyasdescribed, comprising the central holder, the turn-table plate encircling the holder and adapted to support the syrup vessels, and the turn-table for the glasses, such turn-table being concentric with that for the syrup vessels, substantially as set forth.
5. An apparatus substantially as described comprising the central holder, the turn-table It is evident that by supporting plate encircling the holder and adapted to support the syrup vessels, and the turn-table plate below said iirst turn-table plate and adapted to support the tumblcrs, and the casing fitting over said plates and inclosing the space between the same substantially as set forth.
6. An apparatus substantially as described comprising the central holder, the turn-table for the syrup vessels, the cover on said holder, thc-casing, both the cover and the casing having coincident openings, the compartments for the syrup vessels on said turn-table and the doors to said compartments, such doors being held from opening except when opposite the coincident openings in the cover and casings, substantially as set forth.
7. An apparatus substantially as described, comprising the central holder, the turn-table revolving around the same, the syrup vessels supported on said turn-table and retaining means overlapping the syrup vessels and having coincident openings through which the syrup vessels may be withdrawn, subst-antially as set forth.
8. In an apparatus substantially as described, the combination of the tu r11-table for the syrup vessels, the individual doors for said vessels, said doors being arranged to open and shut independently of their respective vessels and the casing having means by which to hold said individual doors closed except in certain adjustments thereof, substantially as set forth.
9. An apparatus substantially as described comprising the central holder, the base, a shelf-like support upon the outer side of the holder, a cover having a depending flange overlapping the upper ends ofthe vessels, the casing upon the base and having at its upper end a portion overlapping the lower ends of the vessels, such portion and the depending ange of the cover having coincident openings through which the jars may be removed, the turn-table plate upon the base within the casing and adapted to support the glasses substantially as set forth.
10. In an apparatus substantially as described, the combination of the central holder,
l the top thereon having a depending l'iange,
the casing having a portion adapted to overlap the lowerends of the jars, the jars, a turntable support therefor, and individual doors for each of said jars, said doors being movable to open and closed position independently of their respective jars, substantially as set forth.
