SOLQMON HEIMAN, OF LITTLE FALLS, NEV YORK.
POCKET-ATOMIZE'R.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 653,866, dated July 17, 1900.
Application led November 20, 1899. Serial No. 737,614. (No model.)
5 New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pocket-Atomiz'ers, of which the following is a specification.
rlfhis invention relates to pocket-atomizers, and has for its object to produce a simple but 1o efcient atomizer of this class.
The invention consists in certain novel and useful features, which are hereinafter fully described.
Referring to the accompanyingV drawings,
Figure l is a plan view of an atomizer which embodies my invention. Fig. 2 is a crosssection through line u; y., Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the atomizer, partly in section, showing a slightly-different form of Fig. d is a plan View of the shield shown in Fig. 3. Fig. is an enlarged detail view of the deliverytube.
Similarletters referto similar parts through- 2 5 out the several views.
3o crease the degree of compression of the two halves, the central portion of each half is made slightly convex outwardly.
B represents the neck of the atomizer.
F represents a lat spring located between the two halves forming the body of the atomizer and which is adapted to exert a pressure on the sides of the atomizer for the purpose of compelling the sidesto expand after they have been compressed.
The delivery-tube is secured to a screwcap G, the neck of the atomizer being in that construction provided With exterior screw threads, with which the said cap engages. Ina terposed between the cap and neck is a pack; ing H. Pivctally secured on the upper surf face of the cap is a shield I, by which the opening of the deliverystube may be either covered or exposed, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 5.
In using the device the shield is moved until the openin g in the delivery-tube is exposed. The sides of the atomizer are then compressed by the fingers, which causes the liquid in the atomizer to be ejected and at the contracted opening of the delivery-tube mix with some air which simultaneously escapes through the air-passage in the tube. The liquid will thus be discharged in a iine spray.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In an atomizer, a compressible body having an exteriorly-threaded neck, an interiorlythreaded cap for the neck, a delivery-tube having an upper contracted end portion which is rigidly secured to the central portion of the cap and extending through the top thereof, said delivery being provided with a slit or opening forming an air-duct adjacent to its upper end portion, combined with a pivoted cover on top of the cap, said cover being adapted to alternately cover and expose the contracted end portion of the delivery-tube, substantially as described.
SOL. HEIMAN.
