IMPROVEMENT IN BRIDLES.

To ALLIWHOM IT MAY ooNoERN:
Be it known that I, J. FRANKLIN'MASON, of Bentonsport, Van Buren county, in the State of Iowa, have invented'a. new and improved Bridle for Horses; and I do hereby declare that the following is n true and exact description of it, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and the letters of reference marked thereon.
The invention consists, first, in the use of a. rounded ieather strap, A, of' u suitable si'ze und length to answer us n. bit, termina-ting'in an extended Het strap, E, at either end. These dat straps are doubled through a slot in the guards C C, forming loops in which are inserted the rings R R for attaching the driving-lines. One of' these dat straps E E is furnished with n buckle, having a pad, D, underneath it, which, by `pressing against the enimals lower jaw, keeps the bit in place when once secured by buckling. The combinationot the round and fiat straps with guards and rings forms a complete bridle without the use of a head-stall.
Its operation is as follows: The round strap or bit A is placed in the mouth back of' the bridle teeth, so called, and secured in this position by buckling the straps E E together underneath the lower jaw.
I claim as my inventionp The rounded strap, in combination with guards and rings, to be secured to the horses under jaw, in the manner and for the purpose herein described.
