TO ALL WHOM '11 MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, DAVID J. SELDEN, of -Mount Vernon, in the county of Knox, and State of Ohio, have invented a. new nnd improved mode of constructing Plough-Points; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full aml exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference mark ed thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in n cast-iron plough-point, so adjusted on the share as to be capable of being turned when the under side of the point hecomes rounded and will no longer hold in the ground with the under side up, so that the pointhy being thus turnedwili have the level side under and the rounded side of the point above, and will hold'in the ground the some as when new, and cnpnhle of being turned at pleasure, and as often as the under side of the point becomes rounded, until the point is worn out; and is exemplified in, first, a, cast-iron shore marked A in the annexed drawings, which are made part of this specification, cast with e wroughtiron tenou, D, with square shoulders E E E E on the share on each of the four sides of the tenon 1). The east-iron point B, with the mortise O sniiicicncly large to let in the wrought-iron tonon D, and when the wroughtiron tenon D is let into the mortise C that the hack part of the poinhB will be of the same size and meet the shoulders E E E E on the cast-iron share A. he countersunk hole 11- through the mortiscd point B, and the wrought-iron tenon D, and the point B, when fitted on tho wrought-iron Lenon 1), held on and kept to its place by the wrought-iron pin G, made with the head to fit the countersunk hole F above, and with the point of the pin split, and each half of the point so sprung as that when it is passed through the hole F the points of the pin will open in the countersunk hole on the under side.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Ritent, is-
The wrought-iron tenon east in-the east-iron shure,,with shoulders on each of the four sides of the tenon, the point Witlrthe mortise to fit the wrought-iron tenon with either side of the point up, zurdwith the back end of the point of the same size and meeting the shoulders on the cast-iron share, the countersunk hole through the mortiscd point, and the wrought-iron tonon with the pin passed through the hole to keep the point to its place on thejtenon, and the split point of the pin so sprung as to keep it in its place, and to hold the point to its place on the tenon with either side up.
