.TULE GILLET AND WILLIAM H. WOODS,- OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
(PEANUT-OR CRACKERWARM ER.
SPECIFICATION forming partoi'l Letters Patent No. 647,445, dated April 10, 1900. hpplicatiqn filedllugust21, 1899. seatin 727,886. (Nomoan l T at. whont it may concern/.
Be it known that e, JULE ,H. GILLET and WILLIAM H. Woops, citizens of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Vayne,
State of Michigamhave invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Peanutor Cracker Warmers; and we declare the follow-,
ingto be a full, clear, andenactdescription of the inventiomsuch as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto part of this specificationu e Our inventionis de 'gnedto provide an improved peanut and" crackerwarmeryand it Figure 1 isa view infperspective,illustrat ingfeatu res oftourinveution. F g. 2 is aver-f tical transverse section. Fig. 3 is a detailin horizontal section,sho ingthe bottomplate it and linings'of the heating-chamberf. e Ourin'vention aims toprovide a peanutand crackerwarmer of simple and economical conf struction andof superior efficiencyand utility.
. We carry outouryinvention as follows: An y suitablei casexorframe may be p cmployed-as that indicated, for example,at a.
,This case is dividedinto a lower compart ment, (indicated at the numeral 1,) forming a heating-chamber, an, upper compartment,\ (indicated at the numeral 3,) andan intervening drawer, (indicated atthe numeral 2.) The'upper compartment constitutes a storage or receiving chamber for thearticles to be;
warmed and is :providedlat its top with a re-. movable cover, (indicated at b.) The back of the upper chamberfmay be preferably made of wood, as shown, while the other sides are preferably made of glass, as indicated in the drawings. At the base ofthe chamber 3 is a hopper (indicated by the numeral 4) provided with a swinging door, (indicated at the numeral 5,) which may be hinged to the hopper, as indicated at the numeralfi. The swinging door 5 drops down into the drawer 2, the hopper emptying into said drawer when said door is open.
At the rear of the drawer 2 and movable underneath the hopper. H
it is drawn out and forced into'thecase of the warmer. It will be obvious that the swinging door 5 drops down in front of the arm or shelf 7, so that said shelfstriking the swinging door will close it upward, while the drawer is drawn outward to prevent the feeding of the stock. in the chamber ,3fintothe drawer while the drawer isin open position. When thedrawer is forced into the case, it will, be obvious that theshelfi, receding from theswinging door 5,perinits said door to drop into open .posi
ftion again. The hopper (is preferably provided with a stop, (indicated at d,) the shelf 7, being also provided witha stop 6, arranged to strike the stop 01 when the drawer is pulled outward to limit. the outward movement of the drawer. Above the drawer the case is "provided with ventilating-orifices, (indicated i I atf,) out of which theheat may escape, these orifices being located above the drawer and l The lower compartment is designed to be I heated by any suitable heating device-as, for
example, a lamp, (indicated at g.) The fount of the lampis preferablylocated belowthebase ofthe heating-chamber l', as indicated at h,
the base 2' of the heatingrchamber beingprotherewith is an arm or shelf '7, preferably braced to thebaclt under the drawer, as in- ,dicatedat' thenumeral 8. The case of the warmer is provided with guideways or tracks V ,c,; upon which the drawer is reciprocated as i .videdwithan orifice 7', throughwhichthe top of the lamp may project. The base 1' may also be provided with orifices, as indicated at Z, through which air may beadmitted into the heating-chamber to support combustion and to create a draft within said. chamber, carry- ;ing the heat upward within the drawer and.
under the base of the hopper. Thedrawer,
except the front thereof, may be made, preferably, of metal, as well as the hopper. The in-.
terior of the heating-chamberis formed, preferably, with metal linings, (indicated by the numerals 9, 10, 11, and 12.) The linings at the back and upon the two sides are preferably so flanged as to beinterlocked or held in place when the front lining 10 is engaged in place. The linings are also constructed with lower flanges, as shown, to support the base 2'. When the four side linings are in place, the bottom By the construction above described it will be obvious that the swinging door will be closed andopened automatically when the drawer is actuated, serving when it is closed to automatically cutoff the feed from the hopper into the drawer.
What we claim as our invention is 1. In a warming device, a heating-chamber,
' a reciprocatorydrawer, and a supply-chamher above the drawer communicable with the drawer, said drawer arranged to out off communication of the su pply-chamber therewith when the drawer-is drawn outward, substantially as set forth.
2. Ina warming device, a supply-chamber provided with ahopper at its base, a movable drawer therebelow into which said supplychamber communicates, and a heating device located below the drawer, said hopper provided with a swinging door at the base thereof, and said drawer with a rearwardly-exv tended arm or shelf movable with the drawer arranged to close the swinging door when the drawer is pulled out, and to allow said door to open when the drawer is inserted within the case of the warming device, as set forth.
3. In awarming device, aheating-charnber, a reciprocatory drawer, a supply-chamber provided with a hopper at its base communicable with said drawer, said hopper provided with a swinging door at the base thereof, and said drawer with a rearwardly-extended arm or shelf arranged to close said door when the drawer is pulled out, the walls of the heatingchamber provided with interlocking metal plates, and a base supported upon said plates, substantially as set forth.
4. In a warming device, aheating-chamber provided with a heating device, a movable drawer located toward the top of said chamber, a supply-chamberlocated above said drawer and communicable therewith, said hopper provided with a swinging door at the base thereof, and said drawer with a rearwardly extended armor shelf arranged to close said door when the drawer is pulled out,
said, heating-chamber provided with outletorifices below said hopper, as set forth;
In. testimony whereof we sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
