IMPROVED RAILROAD SWITCH.

TO ALL WHOM I'l MAY CONCERN Do it known that we, HENRY E. PASSA-[ORE and GEORGE A. HECKERT, of the borough Iof York, in the county of York, and State ot' Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful improvement in rhilroad switches, which we cull an Improved Railroad Switch and We do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making' a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a plan of switch, part of main track, and siding.

The nature of our invention consists in providing two pointed spring-rails, made of steel or tempered iron, moving on slide-plates between the outer rails and guard-rails, adjusted by means of the single-lipped switchrod in passing from main track on to siding, und self-adjusting by means of the pointed spring-rails in passing from siding on to main track. v
The operation of this switch is as follows: The wheels of a cnr coming off of siding on to main track force the pointed spring-rails C C back against the notched guard D and outer rail, and when thc wheeis of 'checar clear, the pointed'springuails C C iy hack, and the line of the main track is unbroken.
Now what we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The pointed spring-rails C C, moving on the slide-plates E E, andlug-plates F F, in combination with rails X X.
The idoublc-notchcd guard-rails D D, in connection with the pointed spring-rails C C, to guard the wheels from striking the points of the said spring-rails.
The Single-lipped switch-rod Cr7 which allows the pointed spring-rails C C to more back, in combination' with spring-rails, d'0.
