To ALL WHoM :fr MAY coNcERN:
Be it known that I, J. B. DUNLOP, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and improved Glass-Cleaner; and I do hereby declare that the following ls a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- I Figure 1 represents a vertical section of my device for cleaning glass7 etc.
Figure 2 represents an inverted plan or bottom vien of' the same.
The object of this invention is to provide an article for cleaning glass and other substances on the surface of which have accumulated hard stains of paint, dirt, ctc. For this purpose I use-a s mall plate of' metal, such as hardened iron or steel, on the upper side of which I form a. handle by which the cleaner is held. On the under surface or face of the cleaner I form ilutes or V-shaped grooves which run diagonally across its face and form a series of knife edges thereon. Between each groove' is left a Hat surface as shown at Z) in the dra\vings,. in order .to prevent the glass or other article from being cut or scratched. When this-'cleaner is brought in= contact with a pane of glass or other'surface on which have accumulatedA stains of paint'or other substance, and rubbed to and fro, a thorough cleaning thereof is accomplished.
A, in the drawings, represents my cleaner,'which consists of a plate of metal. B represents the handle by which the clcaneris opera-ted. a is the tinted orgrooved surface, a the V-shaped grooves, and I) the spacebetween the grooves. -The handle. and plate may be lnadein one piece or in separate pieces as desired. Ido notlimit myself to the precise form or method of construction herein shown, as they may be varied in many ways without departing from my invention. l
Having, thus described my invention; I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, as an improved articie of manufacture, a glass-cleaner made substantially as described.
The above specification' ot` myinvention signed by me this 9th day ot` November, 1866.
J. B. DUNLOP.
