To all whom it may concern:

' Beit known that we, OTTO ANDERSON, residing at Stillwater, and ANDREW W. ANDER- SON, residingat Lake Elmo, in the county of Vashington and State of Minnesota, citizens of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pneumatic Rockers; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to malte and use the saine.

The rocker is indicated by the numeral 1, and portions of the chair-legs are indicated by the numeral 2.. in its bottom or convex under surface or edge the rocker l is provided with a channel 3, which runs lesev than from end to end of said rocker and terminatesv in' conical seats or extremities'4,-as 'best illustrated in Fig. 2. y

The channel or tube-scat 3 is formed in its sides with longitudinally-extended detentgrooves 5 for a purpose which will presently appear.

A pneumatic tube [i is fitted into the tubeseat 3, so that it completes the under surface of the rocker and is adapted to sustain the weight of the chair and the occupant thereof. At its ends the tube 6 is formed conical or pointed, as indicated at '7, so that it tits the conical seats et.' On its sides, but considerably above its axis, the tube 6 is formed with longitudinally-extended detent-langes 8,

which are adapted to i't into the detentgrooves 5 of the tube-seat 3 to cooperate with the seats 4 and tube ends 7 to hold the tube in working position when inated.

- At one end or at some other suitable point the tube 6 is provided with a charging-nipple or valve-stem 9, which projects through a suitable passage in the rocke'r, so that the -tube or tire may be iniiated by means of a pump suitable for the purpose-such, for example, as a bicycle-pump. When the tube is deiiated, it may be readily applied with its ends 7 engaging the end seats 4 and its detenttianges S engaging the cooperating grooves 5, and at such time it may alsohe readily removed from the rocker. When, however, the tire is thus placed in working position and iniiated, it will be securely held inv Working 'position by the strain of the compressed and confined air in the tube, which strain tends to lengthen the tube, as well as to hold the same round in cross-section.

A chair equipped with pneumatic tubes of the above character willhave great resiliency, and no jars would be 'produced in rocking, even though the chair .is rocked upon a very irregular and rough ,floor or other supportingsurface.

What we claim, and desire to secu re by Letters Patent of the United States, is as follows: 1. A rocker, provided in its under surface with a recess or groove 3 extending less than from end to end'of'said rocker and' teinlinat-- ing in the conical end sockets 4, of the tube 6 pointed at its ends at- 7, and engageable with said recess or seat 3, 4,. and held in position when inflated, substantially as described.

2. A rocker formed in its nndersu rface with the longitudinal recess or seat 3 terminating in` the end sockets 4 and provided with the dctenl-grooves 5 in its sides, in combination with t-he pneumatic tube G terminating,r at its ends in the conical points 7 and provided at its sides with the detent-fianges 8, which tire is held in position when iniiaied, substantially as described.
