v UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELI MONDEN,y OF RAWLINS, VYOMING.
SACK-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of. Letters Patent No. 634,760, dated October 10, 1899.
Application led J une 5, 1899. Serial N o. 719,44l`. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.'
. Beit known that I, ELI MONDEN, of Rawlins, in the county of Carbon and State of Wyoming, have in vented a new and Improved .Sack-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in devices for holding sacks when receiving ore, grain, or any other material designed tohe placed in sacks; and the object is to provide a sack-holder of simple and comparatively inexpensive construction with which sacks may be quickly engaged and from which the iilled sacks may be easily removed.
I will describe a sack-holder embodying my invention and then point out the novel features in the appended claims.
Reference is to'be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this'specitication, in which similar characters oi reference indicate corresponding parts in all the gures.
Figure lis a front elevation and partial section of a sackholder embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a top View of the same. Fig. 4C is a section on the line l 4 of Fig. l. one of the supporting-bars employed, and Fig. 6 shows a construction that maybe em'- ployed for supporting sacks 0r bags other than ore-sacks.
The sack-holder comprises a frame consisting of the front nprights l, the rear uprights 2, the top bars 3, and the lower brace-bars 4. This frame is open at its front, so that a sack when lled may be removed through said opening.
Mounted to swing on the frame are sacksupporting bars 5 6. These sack-supporting bars have hinge connections 7 with one of the top bracehars, and these hinge connections are so arranged that the sack-supporting bars p may be spread apart or elevated relatively to the frame when it isdesired to release the sack. A Having swinging connection with one of the sack-supporting bars is a hopper 8, and upon the upper side of each sack-supportin g bar is a block 9, having recesses l0 at its ends to receive cross-bars l1, that are usually secured Y I also provide a K to the ends of ore-sacks.
Fig. 5 shows may rest, and this block permits the contents of thel sack to be shaken down or packed closely and without undue strain on the upper portion of the sack.,
When the device is to be used for supporting sacks other than ore-sacks or sacks for containing grain, potatoes, or the like and which are not provided with cross-bars ll, I provide opposite top bars of the frame with hooks 13,with which the sack may be engaged. In operation the hopper 8 is to be swung back, substantially as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, and then the sack-supporting har 5 may be swung outward to allow a sack to be placed in the frame, so that after again swing ing the bar 5 inward the crossbarslhattached to the sack, will rest on said saclcsup porting bars in the recesses 10. The shoul ders ot' these recesses l0 will prevent the crossbars Il from moving toward each other. AfL ter moving the hopper downward,as indicated in full lines in the drawings, the material to be'sacked is to be shoveled into said hopper, from' which it will ilowinto the sack. When filled, the hopper must again be raised and the sack-supporting bars be spread apart or -elevated to release the sack.
Having thus fully described my inventionl I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentv l. YA sack-holder, comprisinga frame open at one side, sack-supporting bars mounted to swing both laterally and vertically on said frame, and a hopper having swinging connection with one of the ba1s,.substantiall v as specified.
2. A sack-holder, comprising a frame, sack= supporting bars mounted to swing laterally and vertically ou the frame, blocks on the upper sides of said bars and having recesses at the ends to receive cross-bars attached to the sack, and a' hopper having swinging connection with one of the sack-supporting bars, substantially as specified.
