Be it, known that I., JACOB B. HOUGH, of Lebanon, in theiconnty of Warren, -in the State of Ohio, have vinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Double-Trees ;A and do hereby declare that'the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to' the' accompanying drawings, und. to the lettersof `reference marked thereon.

The'drawing represents n top or plain view'ot` my improved double-tree as used upon n common wagon-tongue. The nature of myV invention consi-sts in theurrangementof o curvcdfulcrum-block und gude-rods, or their equivalents, in combination with n. double-tree, in such-a manner as to vary the pointof draught, forithe purpose and in the manner hereinafter described; also in the use of u stay-block in-com'binaticn with the compensating double-tree and fulcrum block, all of which will be fully described in this specification. l

To enable others to' make and use my invention, I 'will proceed to describe its construction und operation I construct my'dou'bletree in the usual forni, :is indicated in the drawing' by the letter D, and place it centrally upon the tongue und houndsiA B C. Ir. every instance and condition the double-tree will adjust itselt` upon the fulcrum-block in such a. manner as to favor the less powerful horse, because, as the more powerful of the two will'lre'p in'ndvanc'e of the other, the

There nreother obvious advantages to be derived from the use of my invention, it being well adapted for breaking young animals to work.. Its use is not limited to the'vfvugonlor c arrige, but may' be applied to a. long'clevis for the ploughn the same manner that the parts re attached to the wagon. My improveddouble-trees nre not only simple in construction, but much cheaper than any device of the ltind thuthnmbeen introduced to my observation. I
