vPENn'sYLVitara.:
improvement is fully set forth in the follow ing specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to registers or ventilators; and it consists in ,an improved con-f struction of indicatorplate or Wheel therefor i whereby the opened or closed condition of the register'or yventila'mr may be readilyiasvy certained, said plate havingopenings .therein and being supported upon the centerof the face-plate, said center `being.stationary and slotted or provided with openings to conform to the slots or openingsv in said indicator-l center ,will readily indicate the opened or` closed condition of the register.
`Wheel, so that when' 'the slots register there is an indication of theopen oonditionof the register or ventilator and lwhen the Wheel closes the slots at the center of; said face-. Ql platethe closed condition of the apparatus. isindicated, the face otv said indicating-wheel being diiferent from `that ofthe stationary center either in shape, color, orcon figuration, l
sothat its exposure through the slots of the It further consists of novel details of con-l struction, all asvwill be hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly.- pointed out in the claims. 1
Figure'l represents'a plan lView of an indicating plate or Wheel for a register or venti--` Fig. y2 repf later embodying my'invention'. resents a section on line fr, .Fig. l. Figs.,3 and 4 represent vplan views of the front and rear of the central portion of the register, showing the construction andimanner of supporting the indicating plate or wheel and also illustrating the open and closed condition, of
said register. /Fig y5 represents, on an enlarged scale, a perspective view of the spring seenin -Fig.-2. -Fig.6 represents, on a re-V duced scale, aperspective view of theinner j surfacev of the indicator-Wheel and the adjacent recess@v bar,'the`parts being. shown in detached position.

The engagement of the lugs L with the arm M will cause the frame or bar N to be reciprocated at the proper intervals, and by' reason of the intermediate connections the plates or blades S, T, and U are actuated at the proper intervals, as is evident.
A designates a recess in that porti-on of the bar N which is contiguous to the boss B on the inner Surface of the indicating-wheel F, said recess being guided by said boss, which latter serves to limit the movementof the bar N, as is evident.
It will be evident that slight changes may be made by those skilled in the artwhich will come within the scope of my invention, and I do not therefore desire to be limited in every instance to the exact construction l -I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ism
l. The combination of a face-plate having a stationary slotted central portion, an indicating wheel or plate rotatably mounted adjacent to said face -plate, said indicatingplate being provided with solid and open portions respectively, which are adapted to be turned into and out of alinement withthe openings through said face-plate andto thus indicate the opened and closed condition of the register, a bar operated by said wheel and having a recess, a boss on said Wheel engaging said recess, and operating connections between the bar and the register-shutters.
