This improvement consists in nn arrangement of levers :ind slides, in connection with the handle of' o tailors goose, suspended upon a crane, whereby the operator con impart with the hand any desired nnount of' pressure upon the elfith, or relieve it of pressure entirely, by simply raising or lowering the hond, without the employment of a spring or catch of any kind whatever.

It will be observed that with this arrangement of' the lmndle the press-iron is completely under the control of the operator, und that when the iron is moved over thc cloth the desired amount of pressure may be readily imparted by simply bearing upon the handle., without the extraneous aid of springs; and that the iron will remain suspended when the handle is elevated independently of u spring or catch, usually employed for this purpose.

Hoving thus described my invention, what I claim :is new, and desire to secure by Letters Potent, is

The compound levers c. h g, provided with handle d, the end of levers e e being pivoted to bar e, which is connected to swinging arm D by a swivel-joint, and thc end of levers g g being connected to the guides a a, which slide in sleeves b b, in combination with the iron E, the whole operating substantially as described and for the purpose specified.
