T0 ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, OBADIAH HOPKINSof Hackensaclglin the county of Bergen, and State of New Jersey, have invented :t new and improved Rond Scraper;" and I do herebydeclaxre thai. the following is n full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the nrt to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this 'speciicatiom The nature of this invention consists in making e road scraper in the following manner.

Figure 2 is a. front elevation of my improved road scraper, in whieh- A represents the scraper, which is made of wood and is provided withaniron shoe, B, along its bottom. On the ba/ck of the scraper A are tw'o upright pieces, C C, for the purpose of stiening the scraper, and also of allowing the tail-pieces or dumping-handles D D to be mortised in. On top of' the upright pieces C C, and resting on the dumping-handles D D, is n platfofrm, E, on which the driver stands, when nt any timeextrn weight is required to keep the scraper down, lthe handle Gr being provided for the driver to hold on by. This scraper is very useful in clearing away snow; and in using the saule for such a. purpose the sera-per is set at an angle by the chains with which it is drawn, thus oet-ing es :t plough. It is also nn excellent ditcher, and for using it as such the driver stands on the side of the scraper, causing the corner on which he stands to form the ditch. By means of the dumpinghnndles, the scraper may be held at any desired inclination.
