UNITED STATES PATENT Enron.
GEORGE M. \VILLMENT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONEIIALF TO ROSALIE IIOFMEYER, OF SAME PLACE.
PIPE-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 622,743, dated April 11, 1899.
Application filed January 22, 1898. Serial No. 667,609. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, GEORGE M. WILLMENT,
a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, re-
siding at New York in the county of New 5 York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe- IIangers, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to pipe-hangers; and the object sought is to provide an adjustable device of the kind especially adapted to support pipes for steam or hot and cold water. The device is also adapted to support pipes which do not extend in the same plane, but which may be inclined with respect to each other at different angles.
The invention consists of a pipe-hanger constructed substantially as described, and defined in the annexed claim.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by the same letters of reference in each of the views, and in which- Figure 1 represents a front view of my improved pipe-hanger. Fig. 2 is a side View thereof.
In the drawings, A represents the body portion of my improved pipe-hanger, which is constructed of suitable metal and formed in two semicircular parts a a, which are adapted to slide upon each other within a tubular supporting-clip B, which is provided at one side with a threaded perforation in which is seated a binding-screw b to lock the parts a and 0. together in their adjusted position. The tubular clip 13 is provided upon its upper portion with two parallel lugs, within which is secured by a common knuckle-joint a supporting-link O, which is pivoted at its upper end to a second link which is pro- 4 5 vided with a plurality of perforations, where by it may be adj ustably secured to a support ing-beam or other suitable object.
Each part a a of the tubular body portion A is provided at its end with a depending perforated lug o to which is pivoted a two-part 5o clamp D, which is adapted to be secured about the pipe to be supported. The tubular clip B is also provided upon its under side with a depending lug to which is pivoted a pipesupporting clamp similar to those above described. It is to be understood that other pipe-supporting clamps may be used, the number being regulated by the number of pipes to be supported.
My improved pipe-hanger is simple in construction and operation and well adapted to accomplish the result for which it is intended and is also comparatively inexpensive.
It will be seen from the above description that my improved pipe-hanger is capable of vertical adjustment and that by reason of the pivotal connection between the links and the pivoted pipe-supporting clamps pipes runningin diiferent horizontal and vertical planes may be supported.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In a pi pe-hanger, the combination of a supporting device, a tube secured to one end thereof, a supporting-bar consisting of two parts adjustable with respect to each other arranged in said tube, means for clamping the bar in said tube, and a plurality of pipeclips secured to the supporting-bar, substan- 8o tially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention Ihave signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 20th day of January, 1898.
GEORGE M. IVIIALMENT.
