SPEGIFIGATIIDN forming part of Letters Patent No. 614,117, dated November 15, 1898.
Application filed June 30, 1898. Serial No. 684,902. (Mod L) To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EZRA A. LOSEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake City, in the county of Calhoun and State of Iowa, have invented an Improvement in Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in holders; and the object of the same is to provide a device whereby mop-cloths, brushes, pruning-saws, 650., can be attached to said holder and to a handle for mopping, scrubbing, whitewashing, calcimining, painting, cleaning windows, and pruning fruit-trees.
The figure is a perspective View of said holder.
This holder consists of two metal jaws 2 and 3, extending from the socket 1, said jaws being provided with cross-heads 4 at their extremity,with pointed teeth 5 on the inner side at each corner of said cross-heads to engage with the handles of brushes, &c. Jaw 2 is rigidly connected with socket 1, while jaw 3 is held to socket 1 by a hinged joint 9 and is made adjustable by bolt 6, passing through said jaws,with a square hole 8 in jaw 3 to keep said bolt from turning, and held rigid by thumb-nut 7 when in use. The hinged joint 9 consists in an extension of socket 1, with hole to take the bolt that passes through a hole in end of jaw 3 and said extension to hinge jaw 3 to socket 1. The socket 1 consists of a hollow tube rigidly connected with jaw 2 and having a hole 10 to take the screw that holds the handle or pole rigidly in place.
What I claim as my new invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A holder of the kind specified, consisting in two jaws 2 and 3, extending from socket 1, said jaws being provided with cross-heads 4, at their extremity,with pointed teeth 5, on the inner side at each corner of said crossheads, and a bolt 6, passing through the center of said jaws, with thumb-nut 7, to make jaw 3, adjustable, while hinged to socket 1, and a hollow-tube socket 1, rigidly connected with jaw 2,with an extension forming part of hinge 9, with a hole, to take the bolt thatpasses through the end of jaw 3, to hinge jaw 3, to socket 1, and a hole 10, to take the screw that holds the handle or pole rigidly in place, substantially as described.
