@ni-ith faire heirat @frn CHARLES ROSE, OF ALLENTOWN. PENNSYLVANIA. Letters Patent No. 61,106, (lated January 8, Y1867.
turnover CURTAIN-FIXTURE.

To ALL WHoM 1T MAY CONCERN: i
13e it known that I, CHRLES ROSE, of Allentown, in the county of Lehigh, and in the State ol Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and 'useful improvements in Window-Shade Fixtures; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying dra-wings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, lnaking part of thisspecication, A represents the roller, (seen in end view, dotted line, Figure 1,) around which thecurtainis wound. This roller is provided at one end with the usual disk or wheel"C, which' is perforated for screws to pass through to secure it to the roller, and also with a short shaft, for a bearing in the hracket,-for that end. D represents ashatft provided with a dish', E, which is also perforated for the purpose of passing screws through to secure it to the roller. The outer end of this shaft isturned down smaller than the shaft itself, vas seen at G, and has a thread eut upon the portion next to the shaft over' which screwfthread a nut, H, passes. The periphery of this wheel or nut is provided with ratchet-teeth, as seen. F represents a disk, which is passed over -Jthe bearing G and is conhned against the shoulder on shaft D, formed by turningdown the arm or bearing 4G- by means oi' the ratchet-nut IVI.v An opening is made through shaft D, and a cord, l, has one of its ends passed through said opening and is there confined. K represents one of the brackets to support the roller, and pivoted to this bracket is a bent lever, I. This lever is provided with a ratchet-tooth, which catches into the wheel or nut H. l Llrepresents a spring, which is secured to the bracket K, and the end' of vwhich bears upon the lever I for the purpose of pressing it down upon the ratchet-nut III. M represents a cord, secured to the end of the` lever I. By drawing down the cord M' the lever I is raised off of the nut H. The arrn G rests iu a proper bearing or journal-box for-it in the bracket K. The lower 'endot` the curtain is weighted so that whenthe cord M is drawn down and the lever raised oof the nut the curtain will unwind and run down'. The cord J windsaround the shaft D in a. different direction from that of the curtain on the roller, and the curtain-may be Wound up 'cn the roller by drawing upon the said cord. It will thus he' seen that by means of the two cords J andM the curtain can be wound up or unwound.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
.The arrangement of the toothed nut Hthe lever `I and spring L With the disk F, shaft D',:and roller A, the several parts being constructed and usedas and for the purpose herein specihed. l v
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set Imy hand and seal this twenty-second day of October, 1866. Y
