Be it known that I, JOHN S. Run, of the city of Berlin, in the county of Green Lake, and State of Wis consin, have invented a new and useful machine for the purpose of rocking a child's crib or cradle, and which I call a Platform Cradle. Propeller; and I do hereby declare the following to be'a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view; and
Figure 2 is a side view of the platform. I
This machine consists of the extension platform A, (upon which the cradle is to rest, and to be kept in its place by means of guards, as seen atd in fig. 1,) the spring B, the wheels 0 and D, and the cranlbwheel E, operating upon the rocker F, through the shaft G, arm H, and adjustable rod I, as seen in fig. 1. The platform can be adjusted to the length of any cradle by extending or shortening it by means of the slides, as seen at a in fig.-2, and the adjustable rod, I, may be moved, as seen at b b, to a greater or less distance from the axis of the arm H, so as to give said, rod a longer or sho'rter sweep as the curve of the rockers on a cradle may require, To soften any noise occasionedb'y the action of the machinery in constructing the platform,
I attach to the bottom, at the corners, blocks of India rubber or other non-conducting material, as seen at c a in figs. land 2. 'Themachinery is set in motion by the power of the spring B, acting on the wheel 0, the. spring being first wound up similar to that of-a clock. v
I do not claim broadlytheinyention of an extension platform regardless. of the use to which it may be applied; neither. do I claim any of the described, parts of the machinery separately.
What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-' The combination of the platform A, spring-B, wheels 0 D, and crank-wheel E, arranged in connection with the shaft G, arm H, and adjustable red I, in the manner and for the purposes specified.
