TO ALL 'WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: l i
Be it known that I, JAMES D. MOORE, of Grinnell, in Vthe county of Poweshiek, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful machine for Running Thread upon Tatting4 Shuttles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, which will enable othersA skilled in the art to make and use my invention, reference being `had to theaccompanying drawings, making a part of thisl specification.
My invention consists of a machine so arranged that thread may be taken from a spoel andrun upon a Tatting Shuttle by, turning a crank which is attached to the machine.
Figure 1 is a perspective view.
Figure, 2 is a plan view of thegmachine.
A shows the frame lof' themachine, which may be made of sheet-brass three eighths of an inch `in width` and 'of one continuous piece. B represents the spool that holds the thread, which turns upon the pin, K. G shows the thread, which passes through the frame at D, passing thence through the eye at E, and from this point to the shuttle at F. Gr shows the larger cog-Wheel, which works the small lwheel and shaft, H. I is a spring constructed with a curve at ,each end, which holdsl the shuttle in its place and'also opens the jaws ofthe shuttle so as to receive ,the thread freely. This spring is made fast to the shaft, H, which shaft is operated by turning the Wheel, G. This motion` is created by turning the crank, J.
What I claim as myinvention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The frame'- A, formed Vof a single piece of metal and bent into form, substantially as described,` in combination with'the wheels G and H and spool B, supported in 'saidftaina as set forth. l t
2. I also claim, inv-combination with said frame, the spring I, which holds the shuttle in its place and opens the jaws of the shuttle to receive the thread freely, substantially as specified# v i D. MOORE.
