Description

J. H. FRY. HOSE NOZZLE.
(N0 Mod m WITNESSES;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIcE.
JOHN HOMAN FRY, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- THIRD TO LOUIS A. CORNELIUS, OF SAME PLACE.
HOSE-NOZZLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 604,036, dated May 17, 1898. Application filed August 11,1897. Serial No. 647,781. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
' Be it known that 1, JOHN HOMAN FRY, of Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Nozzles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to hose-nozzles.
The object of the invention is the production of a certain and cheap hose-nozzle.
The invention consists, essentially, in the manufacture of hose-nozzles from hard wood, the same being lined with light tubing.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure l is a section througha hosenozzle, showing myinvention. Fig. 2 is also a section through my improved nozzle with a supporting attachment connected therewith.
- 1 is the main part of the nozzle, consisting of a block of wood axially perforated or provided with bores or holes of different diameters, as shown in the drawings.
2 is a brass or metal ferrule screwed onto the wooden nozzle, as shown, and adapted to be screwed to the fitting of a hose in the usual way.
The interior of the nozzle is lined with metal tubes 3 and 4, so as to provide a smooth surface and a passage of uniform dimensions.
5 is a deflector for spraying the water and operates in a measure like the sprayer or sprinkler described in my Patent No. 572,000. In this case, however, the spraying device or fan is rigidly connected with the end of the nozzle.
A hose-nozzle constructed according to my invention will have the same capacity and merit due to the most expensive and elaborate nozzles made from brass or other expensive metal. By reason of the economy or cheap-.
ness of manufacture a consumer can provide himself with a plurality of nozzles, each fitted for some special purpose, without excessive expenditure.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A hose-nozzle consisting of a wooden body part, a metal ferrule for connecting the same with a hose, and lining or bushing tubes, substantially as described.
2. A hose-nozzle and sprinkler involving the combination of a wooden nozzle, a metallic ferrule, metal tubular lining or bushing for the nozzle, and a deflector permanently connected with the nozzle, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
