Description

'A. B. AMENT 85 M. H. EVANS.
'(No Model.)
TREE PROP BRACKET.
Patented Apr. 5, 1898.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. I
' ANSON B. AMENT AND MARCELLUS H. EVANS, OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA.
TREE-PROP BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 601,697, dated April 5, 1898.
Application filed April 24, 1897.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ANSON B. AMENT and MARCELLUS H. EVANS, citizens of the United States, residing at Riverside, in the county of Riverside and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tree-Prop Brackets; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to improvements in tree-prop brackets; and the object is to provide a simple, effective, and durable device of this kind.
To this end the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings the same reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of our improved tree-bracket as it appears adjusted to the prop. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3
Fig. 4 is a transverse section, and Fig. 5 is a modification of the same.
1 represents a plate formed with an orifice 2, having parallel edges 3 3, the contiguous parallel ends of which are turned upwardly to form the converging ears 4: 4, and the rear, end of this orifice 2 terminates in a semicircular edge 5.
The forward end 7 of the plate 1 is turned downwardly to extend a short distance par- Serial No. 633,731. (No model.)
allel with the vertical face of the prop, and its contiguous side is provided with two or more laterally-projecting teeth 12 12, which engage theface of the prop to prevent the bracket slipping downward.
9 represents an integral convex-faced arm which engages the limb or bough of the tree to support it when weighted with fruit.
In the modification we have shown the bracket formed of a single piece of wire, the ends of which are formed with teeth 10 10, which engage the contiguous face of the prop, as in the first-instance. Although we have specifically described the construction and relative arrangement of the several elements of our invention, we do not desire to be confined to the same,'as such changes or modifications may be made as clearly fall within the scope of our invention without departing from the spirit thereof.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is
A tree-prop bracket comprising the plate 1 provided with the approximately rectangular orifice 2, the converging ears 4 4 and semicircular edge 5, the lateral projecting teeth 12 12, and the integral convex-faced arm 9, substantially as shown and described.
i In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
ANSON B. AMENT. MARCELLUS H. EVANS.
