Swuwboz UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DANIEL R. CUTLER, OF SEARSBURG, VERMONT.
COMBINED TABLE AND GAME-COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 601,637, dated April 5, 1898.
Application filed September 16,1897. serial N 65 ,9 (No model To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DANIEL R. CUTLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Searsburg, in the county of Bennington and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Registers for Card- Tables; and I a do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has reference to a novel construction in a register for a card-table, and has for its object to provide an inexpensive and convenient device for registering points or games and which does not interfere with the ordinary use of the table.
The invention consists in the features of construction hereinafter described and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this invention, Figure 1 is a top plan of the corner portion of a table provided with this improvement. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
Referring now to said drawings, 1 indicates the table-top, in which is formed a circular recess 2, around the edge of which is a dial 3, provided with any suitable indicating characters. Situated also within said recess is a close cover 4, whose upper face is flush with the top face of the table, and mounted upon a shaft or arbor 5 in the center of said recess are the hands 6, one of which can be employed to indicate games and the other points or for other purposes. The said shaft or arbor 5 extends through the table-top and is provided at its lower end with a thumb-screw, by means of whichit can be tightened to prevent the hands from turning, as is obvious. Concentric with said arbor are a plurality of slots 7 in the tabletop, through which the pins 8, depending from the hands, project,
and by means of which the hands can be conveniently turned from the under side of the table-top.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that I provide a convenient counter or register that does not interfere in any man nor with the ordinary use of the table, but which serves as a convenient device for counting the points or games in playing cards.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination with a table-top provided with a circular recess and a plurality of concentric slots extending through the bottom thereof, of a dial around the edge of the recess, a transparent plate over said recess, an arbor mounted at the center of the recess, a plurality of hands on said arbor, and pins projecting from the under side of said hands and working in and extending through said slots, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The combination with a table-top provided with a circular recess and a plurality of concentric slots extending through the bottom thereof, of a dial around the edge of the recess, a transparent plate over said recess, an arbor mounted at the center of the recess, a plurality of hands on said arbor, pins projecting downward from the under side of said hands and working in and extending through said slots, and a thumb-nut on the lower end of the arbor beneath the table-top, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DANIEL R. CUTLER.
