SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 595,846, dated December 21, 1897. Application filed April 20, 1897. Serial NO. 632,946- (N0 model.)
To 00% whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. OHINNOCK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Incandescent Mantles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in holders for incandescent mantles, and it is especially intended to facilitate the placing of the mantle on and its removal from the burner.
The device essentially consists in a sleeve or ferrule which is adapted to fit on the burner and is provided with a vertical rod having a hook or loop at the top from which the mantle is suspended. The sleeve or ferrule with the mantle is easily placed on and taken off the burner, and liability of jarring and breaking the mantle in these operations is much diminished. The mantle can also be placed on its rod in the manufactory and with the ferrule in the usual boxes,all ready to be put on a burner without requiring any further adjustment or expert attendant to put it on and remove it from the burner.
Referring to the drawings which accompany the specification to aid the description, Figure 1 is an elevation of a holder with its mantlesupporting rod. Fig. 2 represents a'mantle as just being put on the holder. elevation showing the mantle in position on the holder; and Fig. 4 is a plan of the same, but with the supporting-rod broken away. Fig. 5 is an elevation of the upper art of a burner and indicating the holder by dotted lines. Fig. 6 is a broken elevation on a small scale, showing the burner entire and the holder in position. i

Said hook c is so formed that the bend of the wire 0 rises sufficiently high to be easily grasped by the user.
The rod C is cut to proper length to suit the mantle after being burned out, and a mantle may be placed on the rod in the factory and thewhole shipped in the usual boxes, being ready for use without further adjustment.
Now, having described my improvements, I claim as my invention The combination of a mantle-support O, a ring on the lower end thereof, a ferrule A inserted tightly in said ring and adapted to fit removably on a burner, and the edge of said ferrule A being turned over said ring, substantially as and for the purpose described.
