DEVICE FOR SETTING, GAGING, AND JOINTING SAW TEETH;
No. 594,000., Patented Nov. 23, 1897.

JORGEN FREDERICKSON AND FREDERIK J ORGENSON, OF GAYLORD,
- MICHIGAN.
DEVICE FOR SETTING, GAGING, AND JOINTING SAW-TEETH.
SPECIFICATION forming'part of Letters Patent No. 594,000, dated November 23, 1897.
Application filed May 3, 1897. Serial No- 634,867. (No model.)
To. all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that We, J ORGEN FREDERICK- SON and FREDERIK JoReENsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Gaylord, in the county of Otsego and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Setting, Gaging, and Jointing Saw-Teeth; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention has relation to devices for setting, gaging, and jointing saw-teeth, and the object is to provide a device of this character which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, and comparatively inexpensive of production.
WVith this object in view the invention consists of certain features of construction and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of our improved saw-set. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through the head of the tool.
In said drawings, 1 denotes the body of the saw-set, provided with a head 2, formed with a vertical slot 3, terminating in a screwthreaded aperture 4.
5 denotes a screw adapted to said aperture and provided with a shoulder 6, against which the points of the teeth of the saw are adapted to abut. By adjusting the screw vertically it may be positioned to receive teeth of various lengths. I
7 denotes a regulating screw which is adapted to bear against the side of the blade, and by adjusting said screw the proper angle is given to the teeth in setting the same.
8 denotes a raker-gage for the purpose of filing off the rakers the desired length to properly clean the cut.
9 and 10 denote pins projecting laterally from the side of the body portion and forming a gage which is used when setting the saw to see that all the teeth are set alike.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood 'without requiring an extended explanation.
The device is exceedingly simple, and owing to its construction will occupy but a small space and may be conveniently carried around in the pocket or tool-chest.
Having thus described our invention, What we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-' A device for setting, gaging and jointing saw-teeth, comprising a body portion formed with a head provided with avertical slot and with a communicating vertical screw-threaded aperture, a screw working through said aperture into the slot and provided with a shoulder, a regulating screw extending through the body portion at an angle thereto in close proximity to the slot in the head, a vertically-adjustable raker secured to the body portion, and a gage consisting of a series of laterally-projecting pins extending from the side of the body portion and arranged in different planes, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
