SPEGIFICATION forming' part of Letters :Patent No. 593,185, dated November 9, 1897.
Application filed February 5, 1897. Serial No. 622,102. '(No model.)
To aJZZ whom it may conccrn:
Be it known that I, WARREN W. BAIRD, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conduotor-Pipes, of which the followingis a specification, reference being` had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in conductor-pipes, and has for its object to provide a pipe that may be adjusted in any manner desired in order to have the inlet and the Outlet port of said pipe at the desired point. This is accomplished by means of constructing the pipe or conductor in two or more sections, connected together so as to admit of their Vertical or longitudinal adj ustment and also of their radial adjustment, as may be required in order to bring either or both the inlet and Outlet port at the point desired, these joints being perfectly Water-tight; and the invention further consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more specifically described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The invention has for a further object to construct a conductor-pipe that will be extremely simple in its construction, strong, durable,`efieotual in its operation, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture; and in describing my invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, and Wherein like letters of reference indicate similar parts in both the views, in which- Figurel is a side elevation of my improved conductor-pipe, and Fig. 2 is a Vertical sectional View of the same.
Referring now to the drawings by referenceletters, a represents the lower or discharge portion of the conductor, which is joined to the Vertical portion b, forrned at its upper end With an inivardly-extending flan ge c, said portions a and b being joined together, so as to have the portion a at any angle that may be desired, the said portions being also of greater diameter than the upper portion of the conductor.
The inlet portion d of the conductor and the Vertical portion e, which communicates With the Vertical portion b, are joined together in a similar manner to the portions a and Z), and the said portion e being of a diameter to fit neatly against the fiange c of the Vertical portion b and is formed on its lower end With' an outwardly-extending fiange f, which engages the inner face of the pipe b. By thus j oining the Sections of the pipe together it will be observed that either portion maybe moved longitudinally or radially, so as to bring either the inlet portion or the discharge portion to the desired point, and also to conforrn to the height desired, these Sections being made in any desired length, with the upper portion shorter than the lower, as shown in the drawings, or both of the same length, as desired.
The advantages of the radial adjustment will be readily apparent, as it Will be noted that the conductor Will not necessarily need to be placed on the corner of the building in order to bring the discharge-port at this point, and it will also be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.

A conductor consisting of the portion b, having the angle a, attached thereto, said portion b, carrying at its opposite end an inwardlyextending fiange c, the portion c, adapted to operate within the portion Z), and having on its engaging 'end an outivardly-extending fiange engaging the inner face of the portion d, all arranged, as and for the purpose set forth.
