No. 591,929. Patented Oct. 19,1897.'
WTNESSES NI/ENTOR,
A/vmfn/ PMMA/5, m 6M Allorne'y UNITED STATES a PATENT OFFICE.
ANDREW PERKINS, OF CLEVELAND, FLORIDA.
IRONING-TABLE.
SFECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No, 591,929, dated October 19, 1897 Application filed March 4, 1896. Serial No. 581,829. (No model.)
Florida, have invented certain new and use! f ul Improvements in Ironing-Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in ironing-tables, and it has for its object, among others, to provide a simlple, cheap, portable and foldable ironingtab e.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings,v which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which-c Figure l is a perspective view of my improved ironing-table in position for use. Fig. 2 is a view of the same closed. Fig. 3 is a section through the same.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in the several views.
Referring now to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates an ironing-board of any suitable or well-known construction.4 It forms the top of the table and has upon its under side at one end a cleat a, the inner face of which is beveled, as seen in Fig. l, to receive the beveled end of the brace B, which at its other end is hinged as at b to the base or support C, which support may be of any desired character-such, for instance, as that shown in the drawings-the said brace in this instance being shown composed'of two arms and connectingbraces and adapted to fold down fiat against the support C when the device is not in use, as seen in Fig. 2. A cord or chain D may be employed if necessary to connect the base and the board at one end. Hinged as at CZ to the other end of the base is the support E, in this instance composed of the two parallel bars suitably braced by the cross-brace, and at the upper end these uprights are connected by the transverse strips E', having anotch e', into which fits a plate or barF on the under side of the board A. Hooks G, Ysecured to opposite sides of the board A at this point7 are adapted to engage staples or eyes or analogous means g on the outer face of the uprights of the support E to lock the parts in the position shown in Figi l.
H is a brace hinged at one end to one of the cross-bars E of the support E and its other end adapted to engage in an opening t' in the cross-bar I of the base or support C. The board is thus made detachable from its supporting-frame.
Fig. 2 shows how the device can be folded to occupy little room when not in use, and Fig. l shows the device set up ready for use.
is claimed as new isl. As an improved article of manufacture, an ironing-table consisting of the board, the cleat upon its under side Vat one end having its inner face beveled, the base, the brace hinged thereto at one end having its opposite end beveled, a cord or chain connecting the free end of the base to the board, a support hinged to the other end of the base, transverse strips at one end of the same and having a notch, and a bar on the under side of the board adapted to fit said notch, substantially as described.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, an ironing-table consisting of the board, the cleat upon its under side at one end having its inner face beveled, the base, the brace hinged thereto at one end having its opposite end beveled, a cord or chain connecting the free end of the base to the board, a support hinged to the otherend of the base, transverse strips at one end of the same and having a notch, and a bar on the under side of the board adapted to lit said notch, a cross-bar on the base, and a brace hinged at one end to one of the transverse strips of said support and adapted to engage said cross-bar on the base, substantially as described.
3. As an improved article of manufacture, an ironing-table consisting of the board, the cleat upon its under side at one end having its innerv face beveled, the base, the brace hinged thereto at one end having its opposite end beveled, a cord or chain connecting the Having thus described the invention, what tree end of the base to the board, t support on the upright support, substantially as dehinged to the other end of the base, transverse scribed.
