% ww iw QW A. S'OUTHWELL. CURTAIN FIXTURE.
Patented Aug. 10,1897.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANNA SOUTHWELIJ, OF MILIVAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
CU RTAlN-FIXTU RE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 588,024, dated August 10, 1897.
Application filed March 20, 1897. Serial No. 628,551. (No model.) 7 l T 0 all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, ANNA SOUTHWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in curtain-fixtures.
The object of my invention is to provide means for hanging the curtain without rings, pins, or other fastenings such as are now commonly employed for this purpose, which will permit the curtain to hang in graceful folds, and in which the curtain may be adjusted to any desired length and the adj ustment changed at pleasure.
In the following description reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention as it is attached to the window-frame, with dotted lines showing a curtain as it is supported thereby. Fig. 2 is a sectional view drawn on the line a: or of Fig. 1.
Like parts are identified by the same reference-letters in both views.
Referring to the drawings, it will be observed that my curtain-fixture comprises a series of three parallel bars A, B, and 0, offset between their respective ends from the window-frame, and united at their ends into feet D, which conform to the surface of the window-frame and are adapted to facilitate the attachment of the fixture thereto.
My fixture is preferably formed of a single the return fold being preferably arranged to exclude the bars from view.
As the spaces G and H extend to the extreme ends or feet of the fixture, it is obvious that the curtains may, if desired, be supported at their outer edges in the offsetting projections J J thus adding materially to the neat appearance of the curtains when hung upon my fixture.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, a curtainfixture comprising three or more parallel bars, offset between their respective ends, and having the ends of the two outer bars provided with loops or openings for the attachmentscrews, said bars being formed integrally and in a fixed relation to each other, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ANNA SOUTHVVELL.
