Description
H. SHIREY.
CLOTHES-DRIER.
No.174,583. Patented March 7,1876.
,FETSBS. PHOTO-LITHOGRAPRER WASHINGTON D r UNITED STATES HENRY SHIREY, FOND DU LAG, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF PATENT QFFICE. ,v
HIS RIGHT TO EDWARD WEISE, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,583, dated March 7, 1876; application filed January 15, 1876. I
To-all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SHIREY, of Fond du Lac, in the county of Fond du Lac and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Driers and I do hereby declare that the followmg is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use; the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- I Figure l is a plan view of my improved clothes-drier. Fig. 2 is a side view, showing the radial bars elevated and secured in position to the bracket to which they are pivoted. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the reverse side of the same, and Fig. 4.- is a vertical section thereof. Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like letters.
This invention relates to a certain improvementin clothes-dricrs ofthat class in which the drier is fastened to the Wall or other convenient point; and it consists ofa support or bracket, receiving the ends of a series of radial bars, connected thereto. by a threaded and nntted curved bar or wire, the said bars being susceptible of being elevated and properly secured in place by a string or other fastening, substantially as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, A A refer to a support or,bracket, to be fastened in any known way to the wall or other convenient point. The part A thereof is recessed, as shown at a, to receive the inner or pivoted ends'of the ra dial bars when elevated, and to furnish a shoulder or support, a, for the same when 00- cupying a horizontal position, and the part A is recessed, so as to provide a shoulder, o to rece ve the upward pressure of the inner ends of the said radial bars when weighted or having the clothes hung thereon. .The support or bracket may be tu'rned to conform to any desired ornamental configuration, to beautify its appearance and enhance its msthetic effect. 13 is a curved bar or wire for connect: ing the radial bars (J G to the bracket or support A A, the said bars being pivoted to the bar or wire B, to permit of their horizontal and vertical adjustment. The ends of the wire or bar B are threaded and nutted, as seen at b b, they entering "and passing through eyes in the metallic plates 0 c, fastened to the part A of the bracket or support, to permit of the detachment of either one of its ends when it is desired to remove and replace a broken bar by another whole one. I) is a string, clamp, or other fastening, attached to the support or bracket in a manner to retain the radial bars in an elevated or vertical position up out 'of the way when not in use.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The bracket or support A A,'having the recess a and shoulders a 61. in combination with the threaded and nutted wire or bar B, having the radial bars 0 O, with or without the fastening D, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of the witnesses.
HENRY SHIREY.
