T0 (N7 107mm if mu i cone 771 lie ii known that i, iliixiunn Anne Hui ii'fjii', o. viii/on oi: the ifniied States, residing at ..-ii-tiohorongh, in the county of Bristoi and f-iinto oi Ldnssachnsotis, have invented ertain new and useful improvements in Holders r Supports i'orfindon'filn de iiollere of which the '[ollon'ingis a foil and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it npporizting to make and use the same.
This invention relates to holders or supports for Window-shade rollers, and the ob ject thereof is to provide improved dcviceeot this close which are longitudinally adjust chic and adapted in be connected with the vertical sidepieces oi'a window-frame of dif ferent widths, and nine to support shade roilcrs of diiierent lengths; and with those and o her objects in View the ii'n'cntion oonu the device or devices hereinafter dcseriiacn and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following opeciiieniion, of which the nccoinpw nying drawings form :1 pnri, in which- Figure l is perspective View of one form of my iniproi'od shndeq'oller support ltlltl. showing thev operation thereof; Fig. 53, it front view oi a. deinii thereof; Fig. 3, it "plan view of that part of ihedevicc shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 4, :t-plnn ViCW of a modified form of construction and showing the side of to window-ironic projected, and Fig. 5 n erspectire View oi :1. modified form of a detail of the construction.
in the drnwin iin'iningpa-rt of this speciiicntion the SOPZtiiiO parts of my improve ment nrc desigint' :d by numerals oi refer ence in each of the views, and in said drawinge if have shown at 7 one of the sides of a, window-frame and at 8 a part of. the top thereof, and in the practice of my invention 1 provide aishade-rollcr holder or support, two of which are enipioyed in practice, one being connected with each side of the window-ironic, and these holders or enpports, reference being made to Figs. 1 to 3, illOiil" sire are of the following construction:
In forming my improvement I provide a strip of metal, which is folded centrally, on ehown or 5,550 to form two similorpztrnllci tides El and i0;ti1e side 9 being theouter side and the side it") the tront tide, iiilli the outer eidc 9 is provided iii) iii-5 outer end with on singular oxteneion'ii, on which are formed teeth or projeotioim l2, which are adopted to enter the side '7 oi? the windi'in ifttillQ, and said outer side 5.: oi the holder or that portion thereof {ii'ijncent the fold S reduced in Width and. bent train"vcrnciy to form transverse teeth or projc ns 13, and mounted thereon in it chimp .l-i, through which said side J of holder ni'-'ecs, and the said. chimp is provided with on opening 15, and at. one end. illi"l@0f with an angular head it through wide on. setrow 17, which is adapted to i r noon at nnie 18 which is placed ZltgziiilL-Jt the inner enri'noc oi the side 01. the nindtM-i'rmno, as shown in Fig. l. r
The outer end of the side i oi? the holder is also provided with it springtin-nip 530, which in adapted to hold the corrceponlfiing end of the front side 10 oi? the holder, and. mounted on said front side it is at sliding sleeve or band 21, which is provided. with {L-Li out woolly-(Iiirected spring ttiii'i or plate 22, in which is formed on o iling 23, which is adapted to receive one end of the shade roller, and said siiding SlOoi c r hand 21 is provided with ontvmrdiy-dirooted shoulders or projections 34:, between. which pivoted a curved locking-lover the sh irtcr end of which projectn throrn gh on or in said sleeve or bond nnd in outer, side '10 of the Lt ver, locking-lover turned ii shown in F1 1 and i i" will be econ-lei i. ci: of the hoider, Etiiti. it i by means of this eonnt on. enid EiiCGVS or hand may he ndjnr'icd i the hoh desired pore-sition, tifii 'l the deviire ii he thins caused to ziccoinnioifinic itself tden-011* ere 0t different with it will also be any the transverse proi me or too th 10 and the clamp 1% the lie oi? hoider inii rdeo be adjusted, and inn. mode to nerve upon the 'eidee of a windowiie which erect diij foront Widths. f in Figi 4.- It have :iiionin n eiigi modifies tion in which the order e d of the .iont 'eidc 10 oi the holder incur] ,5 upon the mid when said;

lel with the outer side 9 thereof, as shown at 26, and said backwardly-directed portion of the front side is held in connection with the outer side of the holder or bands 27, and the transverse teeth or pro jections 13 are formed on the front surface of the outer side 9 of the holder, and the clamp 14: is substantially of the same form hereinbeforedescribed, and in this view I have also shown at 28 a part of a shade-roller and the meth of connecting the same with the holder or support.
In Fig. 5 I have shown a modified form of the device for connecting the shade-roller with the holder or support, and in this view I provide a bracket which consists of a trans verse plate 29, which is connected with the front 10 of the holder by means of hooks or brackets 30, and adapted to slide thereon, and the lower hook or bracket 30 isprovid'ed with a backwardly-directed extension 31, which is designed to press on the casing or frame of the window, and thus relieve the strain on the front plate 10 of the holder or support, and said transverseplate 29'is provided with the outwardly-directed shoulders or projections 24, between which is pivoted the locking-lever 25, which operates as hereinbefore described, and connected with the opposite ends Of the transverse plate I 9 areeutward l ydirected arms 32, which support a circular bracket-arn1 33, in. which an ordinary curtain-pole is adapted to be placed. This form ofa device is intended, primarily, as a support for curtains, portieres, and other articles, while the forms shown in Figs. 1 to- 4, inclusive, are intended for ordinary shade-roller support-s.
It will thus be seen that l accomplish the by means of sleeves Having fully described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A device for connecting a window-shade roller or curtain-pole with a window-frame, I said device consisting of a strip of sheet metal bent centrally to form two parallel sides, one of said sides being provided at its opposite ends with devices for connecting it with the side of'a window-frame, said side being pro .vided on the inner side thereof adjacent to J one end with transverse teeth; a clamp through which said side of the holder is 7 passed, and which is adapted to engage with the transverse teeth formed thereon, and the other side of the holder being provided with v a longitudinally-adjustable sleeve or band I which. is provided with an outwardly-directed arm with which one end of a rolleris adapted to be connected, substantially as shown and described.
2. The herein-described device forsupportin g" shade-rollers or poles, the same cornprisi-ng the combination with the frame oi. awindew of two supports each of which consists of a strip of metal folded at 8, forming sides 9, and 10, said side 9', being provided with an extension 11, having teeth 12, and with teeth 13;-a clamp 14-, having an opening 15, and an angularli'ea'dlo, provided with a set-screw l7, and said clamp beingprovided with apl'ate 18; said side 9 being also provided with a springclarnp 20, and said side 10 being provided with an adjustable shade-holder, substantiall as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 8th day of March, 1897.
object of my invention by means of a device BENJAMIN AYMAR SLOCUM.
which is simple in construction and operation and which is perif ily adapted to accomplish the result for which it is intended.
