To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, GEORGE \V. COLE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Asbury Park, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fluid Handling and Utilizing Devices, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a device for holding mucilage, gum, oil, paint, or other fluid; and it consists of a collapsible tube having a removable cap or cover, said cap being provided with a brush or stick, which is secured to its interior and which may be inserted into the mouth of the tube when the cap is put on and will be held by the cap within the tube in a stationary position. The contents of the tube may be forced up to the brush by collapsing the tube and the brush thus fed with fluid, while at the same time the brush will be normally maintained submerged in the fluid and prevented from hardening.

I have illustrated my invention inthe accompanying drawings, in which I have designated the parts by letters, referring to like parts by like letters.

Figure 1 is a view showing the device partially in section. Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the nozzle of the tube, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the cap carrying the brush and handle.

A is a collapsible tube, made, preferably, of soft metal suitable for this purpose. a is a mouthpiece or nozzle for said tube, made preferably, of a stiff metal or of the same metal as the tube, of a thickness sufficient to give it the required stiffness. I have indicated this nozzle as a. The rod extends within the cap about the length of the cap, and the brush upon its extremity is of such a size as to pass through the mouth of the tube. When the tube is filled with fluid and the brush inserted into it through the mouth and the cap screwed in place, the tube will be sealed air-tight. If now the tube be compressed, the fluid will flow up to and fill the upper part of the tube and surround the brush. The result will be that the brush will be saturated with fluid and at the same time surrounded byit. The tube once compressed, as by rolling up the bottom, for instance, will not be unrolled. Thus the fluid will always remain in the top of the tube, surrounding the brush, and the brush being always submerged will remain soft. posed to air will not evaporate.

The peculiar novelty of my invention consists of sealing the mouth of a collapsible tube with a cap having a brush protruding from its interior or into the tube, so that when the tube is collapsed the fluid therein will be forced up to and surround the brush, saturating it and submerging it and maintaining it in this condition.

\Vhatl claim is 1. The combination with a collapsible tube, and a cap for said tube, of a brush suitably secured through the center of said cap, and protruding into the tube whereby the tube may be rolled up to keep the brush submerged when not in use, substantially as described.
