Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
-JAMES CHAMBER-S, OF BOONSBOROUGH, MARYLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN rCOOKlNG-STOVES.
Spccication forming part ofLctters Patent No. 58,061. dated September 18, 1866.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Beit known that l, JAMES CHAMBERS, of Boonsborough, county of Vashington, in the State ot' Maryland, have invented a new and Improved Cooking-Stove5 and I do hereby dec1are-that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being,` had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, like parts being indicated by like letters in the several iigures.
The nature of my invention consists in arranging' and constructing an addition to an ordinary cooking-stove, whereby its capacity can be greatly increased at little trouble and small expense. y
In the drawings, D represents an ordinary cooking-stove, d being` the top plate, having a step init and four holes. c is theusual pipehole or line.A E represents my addition or iinprovement, being shaped somewhat like a liat box, constructed ot' cast or sheet iron closed on the four sides. In the front part ot' bottoin plate, f, there is a hole, g, formed partly by the front plate curving; fornard at h, and the pipe-hole ofthe front stove, D, tits snugly into thishole, by which theheat passes through the additional part E, or second story. The
top plate ofE has holes in it for cooking` utensils to sit in or over, and it has a pipe-hole, z'.
Ifit be desired, this part E can easily be constructed so as to have a. iirein it, in which ease a door would have to be constructed in one of its sides, and a hearth, Sie., by which to secure proper draft.
It will be seen that the back part of E is supported by legsj.
W'hen it is necessary to do more cooking,` thancan be done by the front part or stove D, the part E can be easily attached, and the capacity of the stove doubled, if desired.
As to the holes in either ot' the top plates of D or E no special description is necessary Having,` thus described Iny invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combination of the parts D and E, when the latter is constructed and arranged, in relation to the former, as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
JAMES CHAMBERS.
