Be it known that I, GARRISON D. COHN, a citizen of the United States, residing atAltoona, county of Blair, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in display-cabinets, and has for its object to provide a device of this description which may be used by tailors, dressmakers, hatters, gentlemens furnishing-goods houses, and others for the purpose of displaying the goods, before made up, to represent in a realistic manner the nished articles.

With these ends in view my invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth, and then specically designated by the claims.

In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same, I will describe its construction and operation in detail, referring to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specication, in which* Figure 1 is a perspective of the cabinet :made in accordance with my improvement and illustrating the method of exhibiting a suit of clothes by simply placinga section of the goods from which said clothes are to be made upon the cabinet in proper relative position to the outlined igure; Fig. 2, a crosssection of the cabinet, showing the arrangement of the several parts thereof relative to each other. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the bottom of the stand.

In carrying out my invention as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 I preferably provide a pane of glass or other transparent material, approximately thirty by sixty inches in size, and paint thereon the outline of a figure of a wellforlned man or woman, the face, hat, shirtfront, tie, collar, cuffs, duc., in natural colors. The glass from the outlines of the ligure is painted in gold, silver, black, or any color desirable, and this glass is placed permanently in the frame in any convenient way, and a number of these frames containing glasses are provided, each having outlined thereon a different figure for the representation of a variety of costumes, as in the case of a tailors display-cabinet, where the preferred number of frames is six, and one having outlined thereon the representation of a figure dressed in a single-breasted sack-coat suit, another a figure dressed in a double-breasted sack-coat suit, another a figure dressed in a three-buttoned cut-away suit, another a figure having thereon a dress sack overcoat, another a figure having thereon an ulster overcoat, and another a figure having thereon a pair of pants or bloomers.

The foregoing objects are accomplished by providing a cabinet M, having ways N formed therein, adapted to receive the frames O, in each of which is secured a pane or sheet of transparent material having outlined thereon a ligure, as before described, the remainder being made opaque by painting or otherwise. Each of these frames is provided with a leg P, hinged at Q, so as to fold upward within a cut-away portion R of the frame. Thus when one or more of the frames are turned outward the legs carried thereby will drop in the position shown in Fig. 3, whereby one side of the frame will be supported by the leg while the other end is supported by the cabinet. The inward movement of each of the frames will cause the leg carried thereby to come in contact with the lower edge of the way in which said frame is traveling, thus forcing the legs upward into place with the cut-away portion R, and for convenience in moving the frames to and fro the handles S are secured thereto.

When goods are to be displayed, as described in connection with Figs. l and 2, the desired frame is drawn outward and the one located next in the rear thereof is also drawn out and serves as a support for the fabric, as indicated at T, so that by this arrangement the frames do not have to be handled bodily, but only slid to and fro to bring into position the one desired for use and to replace it in the cabinet. A

The front end of the cabinet may be provided with a mirror U, which will serve the purposes of the usual observation-mirror in a tailoring establishment, thus combining both the display-cabinet and the usual mirror.

The frames are prevented from being withdrawn from the cabinet accidentally by the lugs V, which are secured to the inner lower IOO edges thereof and adapted to engage with the upturned edges of the plates` W, located at the outer end of each of the ways, as clearly shown in Fig. 3.

Having thus fully described my invention,

what I claim as new and useful is- 1. A display device consisting of a cabinet, Ways formed therein, frames adapted to slide Within said Ways, each of said frames being provided With a transparent sheet having a figure outlined thereon, and folding legs hinged to said frames, as specified.

2. .In a device of the character described, a cabinet M, having ways N, formed therein, Jframes O, adapted to slide within said Ways, legs P, hinged to said frames, and handles S, also secured to said frames whereby they may be moved to and fro, as specified.

3. The herein-described combination of a cabinet M, having ways formed therein, frames O, adapted to slide to and fro within said ways, transparent sheets secured Within said frames, said sheets having outlined figures thereon, legs P, hinged to said frames and adapted to fold within eut-away portions` thereof, handles S, for moving said frames to and fro, and a mirror located in the front of the cabinet, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
