SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 578,837, dated March 16, 1897-.
Application filed July Z2, 1896.
J'o all whom, it my concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN S. SEAMAN, .a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Oanton,.county of Stark, 'State of Ohio, have invented anew and useful Improvement `in Bicycle-Saddles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in bicycle-saddles, the object ofwhich is topro' vide a strong, durable, and yet soft and iiexi- V ble saddle.
Vith these ends in View my invention consists of certain features of construction and combination of parts, as will' be hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure l ofthe drawings is a perspective of a saddle, illustrating my inventionfrom lower side. Fig. 2 isa similar Viewof the yielding or iiexible seat-leather support. Fig. 3 is a similar View of the pommel-support.

The saddle-frame is composed of the cantle A and pommel-frame B, connected 'by the spring -O and adjusting-screw D. The seatleather support E is formed of a single piece of soft rawhide folded on itself, as shown in Fig. 4:, with the front end secured lto the pommel-frame B. The rear portion is slit into Serial No. 600,155.- (Nc model.)

The seat-leather G has at its front end a cross-bar Hg Thefront end of the seatversel y upon itself and having a cantle-section divided into `diverging flexible strands integral with the pommel-section, and a saddleleather covering said support and haring a' A cross-bar at its pommel-section'to slip under the supporting-fram e, andlacingsat its cantle-section for attachment tc the cantle-section of, the supporting-frame, whereby the covering is capable of being attached and detached, substantially as set forth.
